Fatima bint Muhammad (Arabic:فاطمة بنت محمد, or commonly known as Fatima al-Zahra (Arabic:فاطمة الزهراء, born 605 or 615[1] – d. 633) was the youngest daughter of theIslamic prophetMuhammad andKhadija. Fatima's husband wasAli.[2] She is often viewed as an ultimate role model for Muslim women and an example ofcompassion, generosity, and enduring suffering. TheFatimid Caliphate claimed to be her descendants. Her name and herepithets remain popular choices for Muslim girls.
