Fritz Erich Georg Eduard von Manstein (bornFritz Erich Georg Eduard von Lewinski; 24 November 1887 – 9 June 1973) was a German Generalfeldmarschall (Field Marshal) in the Heer (Army) ofNazi Germany during World War II. He was later placed in prison for 18 years because he committedwar crimes.
