Edward Allen "Ed" Harris (born November 28, 1950) is anAmericanactor,writer, anddirector. He was born inEnglewood, New Jersey, and raised inTenafly.[1] He is best known for his roles inPollock,Appaloosa,The Rock,The Abyss,The Truman Show,A Beautiful Mind,A History of Violence,Enemy at the Gates,The Right Stuff,Gone Baby Gone, andParis Trout. He won anGolden Globe Award, anDrama Desk Award, and anScreen Actors Guild Award.
Harris studied at Tenafly High School and atColumbia University. He married the actressAmy Madigan in 1983. They have one daughter, Lily Dolores, born in 1993. Harris now lives inLos Angeles,California. His father was actor Bob L. Harris.
