TheEagle nebula is a youngopen cluster ofstars in theconstellationSerpens.

Thenebula is catalogued asMessier 16 (M16), and asNGC 6611. It is also called theStar Queen nebula andThe Spire. These last names refer to visual impressions of the dark patch near the center of the nebula.[1][2] This is called the "Pillars of Creation". It was photographed by theHubble Space Telescope. The nebula contains several activestar-forminggas and dust regions, including the Pillars of Creation.
