Duriavenator is agenus oftheropoddinosaur described in 2008. It was excavated inDorset. Thetype species isD. hesperis, formerly known asMegalosaurus hesperis.[1]
Duriavenator lived about 170 million years ago. It is one of the oldest-knowntetanurans. The genus name combines theLatin name ofDorset,Duria, with Latin for "hunter",venator.[2] This genus has also gone under the unofficial name "Walkersaurus".
