Derek Taylor (7 May 1932 – 7 September 1997) was anEnglishjournalist andauthor. He spent most of his career coveringpopular music andcelebritynews. He had a long association withrock bandThe Beatles, serving at different times as theirpress agent.[1] He was also apersonal assistant to The Beatles managerBrian Epstein, and co-wrote anews column with guitaristGeorge Harrison.
In the mid-1960s, Taylor lived with his family inLos Angeles,California,[1] and had his ownpublic relations agency. His clients includedThe Byrds andThe Beach Boys. He also gaveHarry Nilsson's career a boost, when he sent copies of Nilsson's albumPandemonium Shadow Show to important members of the music industry, including the Beatles. Taylor died ofcancer on 7 September 1997.
