Dagr (Old Norse "day") is a personification of a day in theNorse mythology. He is a son of the dawn godDellingr and personification of the nightNótt. He is a half-brother ofAuðr andJörð (Earth). His nephew isThor.
Odin took Dagr and Nótt, gave them each a chariot and ahorse—Dagr receiving the horse Skinfaxi—and placed them in the sky to ride around the earth every 24 hours.
