Confectionery orsweets is a type offood that has a lot ofsugar in it and is very sweet. It often includes things that are rich inartificial sweeteners, flavours and colourings. The wordscandy (North America),sweets (UK and Ireland) andlollies (Australia and New Zealand) are also used for the many kinds of confections. Confections are usually low innutrients but rich incalories. Sweets can come from anywhere.
