TheCivilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was started byFranklin D. Roosevelt during theGreat Depression. TheCCC gave youngmenjobs such as fightingforestfires, digging ditches, andplantingtrees. TheCCC paid these men about thirtydollars a month. At first, it was planned to get men out of thecities, but more men came fromsmall towns andruralareas.
