TheChevrolet Traverse is afull-sizedcrossover (CUV) made byGeneral Motors'Chevrolet division.[1] It was introduced for the 2009 model year.[2] Chevroletmarkets the Traverse as aminivan (without sliding side doors).[3] The design for the Traverse is loosely based off the concept vehicle the Chevrolet Sequel (a hybrid crossover SUV). It replaced theUplander (a minivan) and theTrailBlazer (anSUV) inNorth America.[3] After the Uplander and its siblings failed to match the sales quota ofToyota Sienna andHonda Odyssey GM announced it would target crossovers. InSouth America it replaced theGrand Blazer. This vehicle uses aunibody platform called theGM Lambda platform.[3] In 2013 Traverse was updated with a brand new grille, fascia andCamaro inspired tail lights.
In 2017, a second generation Traverse was introduced for the 2018 model year, which followed a more SUV-like design similar to the Suburban/Tahoe. It also became the largest crossover SUV in the Chevrolet lineup due to the introduction of the mid-size Blazer in 2019.
