Bryan JamesChandler (18 December 1938 – 17 July 1996[1]), known when performing asChas Chandler, was anEnglish musician,record producer and manager, best known as the originalbassist in the British rock bandThe Animals, for which he was inducted into theRock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
He played the electricbass guitar on their 1964 song "House of the Rising Sun". Chandler was a towering 6'9".
Chandler discovered and managedJimi Hendrix from 1966 until Hendrix died in 1970, and then managed the bandSlade.
Chandler died on 17 July 1996 from ananeurysm aged 57.[1]
