Carbonated water, also known assoda water,sparkling water,fizzy water,seltzer, andwater with gas, is plainwater into whichcarbon dioxide gas has been dissolved. Mostsoft drinks have carbonated water as a base. The process of dissolving carbon dioxide gas is calledcarbonation. It results in the formation ofcarbonic acid.

There are specialmachines that allow to makesoda water at home.

The process of carbonation can also occur naturally to produce carbonated mineral water.Beer andwine are carbonated by fermentation.

Carbonated water was discovered by Joseph Pristly in 1767.[1][2][3]
