Canis is agenus with seven to ten living species.[1] It incudes the domesticdog,wolves,coyotes, andjackals, and various extinctspecies. 'Canis' means "dog" inLatin.

Theircanine teeth are adapted for killing, and theirmolar teeth can crunch bone. They are able to chaseprey over long distances, far more so thanfelines.
