Abridesmaid is a member of thebride's group in awedding. A bridesmaid is usually a youngwoman, and often a close friend or sister. She helps thebride on the day of awedding ormarriage ceremony. Traditionally, bridesmaids were chosen from unmarried young women who were old enough to be married.
The main bridesmaid may be called thechief bridesmaid ormaid of honor if she is unmarried, or thematron of honor if she is married. Ajunior bridesmaid is a girl who is clearly too young to get married, but who is included as an honorary bridesmaid.
