Thebran (also calledmiller's bran) is a hard outer skin that covers agrain from acereal plant, for examplewheat. It has a type of cell tissue calledaleurone.[1] It has apericarp, which is the part of the grain that has theseed in it. With thegerm andendosperm, this forms awhole grain. In arefined grain, this layer, and the germ is removed. This part hasfibre and some micro-nutrients likeiron and someB vitamins.[2]
