Robert Frederick Chelsea "Bobby" Moore (12 April 1941 – 24 February 1993) was anEnglish formerfootballer. He was best known for playing forWest Ham United andEngland national team. He was the captain of England when they won theWorld Cup in 1966. He played 108 games for England between 1962 and 1973. When he retired, this was a national record. OnlyPeter Shilton andDavid Beckham have since played more games for England. He is regarded as one of the greatest defenders of all time.[5] He died ofcolorectal cancer inWandsworth,London.
