Blackpool is a seasidetown inLancashire, in thenorth west ofEngland. The town is on thecoast of theIrish Sea. Blackpool had apopulation of 142,283 as of the 2001 census.[2]

Blackpool became important fortourism during the19th century. It is known for itsbeaches andamusement parks. It is also the home to a famous internationalballroom dancing competition.
