Austin Vernon MitchellONZM (19 September 1934 – 18 August 2021)^[1] was aBritishLabour Partypolitician and journalist. He was theMember of Parliament (MP) forGreat Grimsby from 1977 until 2015.^[2] From 1979 until 1985, he wasOpposition Whip.^[3] Mitchell was born inBradford,West Riding of Yorkshire.

Mitchell died on 18 August 2021 inLeeds, West Yorkshire at the age of 86.^[4]
