TheAtom is the name of severalfictional characters and superheroes owned byDC Comics. The first Atom, Al Pratt, was created byBen Flinton andBill O'Connor. Ray Palmer was created byJulius Schwartz,Gardner Fox andGil Kane. They have thepower to shrink in size. The first wasAlbert "Al" Pratt. The most well-known character to use the name is the second version, Dr.Ray Palmer. Two later versions wereAdam Cray and Dr.Ryan Choi.

The Atom has been the star of multiple solo series, and four of the five have appeared as members of various superhero teams, such as theJustice Society of America, theJustice League, theSuicide Squad, and theJustice Legion Alpha.
