Andrew Murray Burnham (born 7 January 1970)[1] is anEnglish politician. He was a candidate in the2010 Labour leadership election. As of 2012 Burnham was Shadow Secretary of State for Health withinEd Miliband'sShadow Cabinet. He is theMember of Parliament for theLeighconstituency in theUnited Kingdom. He was firstelected in the2001 general election.[2]
Burnham was born in Old Roan,Aintree,Lancashire and raised inCulcheth,Warrington.
He is a member of theLabour Party.[3]
On 5 May 2017, he was electedmayor of Greater Manchester.[4]
