Andrew LesnieACSASC (1 January 1956– 27 April 2015) was anAustralianmoviecinematographer. He was best known as the cinematographer forThe Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001–2003) and its prequelThe Hobbit trilogy (2012–2014), both directed byNew ZealanddirectorPeter Jackson. He received theAcademy Award for Best Cinematography for his work onThe Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in 2002. He also worked onI Am Legend (2007) andThe Water Diviner (2014).
Lesnie was born inSydney,New South Wales. He died from aheart attack on 27 April 2015 in Sydney, aged 59.[1]
