Alexander Albon Ansusinha (Thai:อเล็กซานเดอร์ อัลบอน อังศุสิงห์, born 23 March 1996) is a Thai-British racing driver. He competes inFormula One forWilliams Racing. Albon raced in Formula One forScuderia Toro Rosso andRed Bull Racing and inDTM forAF Corse.
After becoming part of theRed Bull Junior Team in 2012, he was promoted toopen-wheel cars for the2012 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 season. He spent three years in the series and finished third in the2014 championship. He moved to theFIA Formula 3 European Championship in2015, where he finished seventh. He signed withART Grand Prix to contest the2016 GP3 Series and ended the season as runner-up behind teammateCharles Leclerc.
In 2017 Albon moved up to theFIA Formula 2 Championship with ART, He then switched to theDAMS team for2018 Formula 2 Championship winning four races and finishing third in the championship. He made hisFormula One début in2019 with Toro Rosso alongsideDaniil Kvyat. After twelve races, Albon was promoted to Red Bull Racing, partneringMax Verstappen and replacingPierre Gasly.[1] He took his first podium finish – and the first in a World Championship Formula One race for aThai driver – at the2020 Tuscan Grand Prix. After two seasons in Formula One, Albon was demoted to a test and reserve driver role with Red Bull for2021 and his seat was taken bySergio Pérez. Albon returned to Formula One in2022 driving for Williams, replacing fellow 2019 rookieGeorge Russell, and continued with the team through 2024.[2] He renewed his contract in 2024, signing a "multi-year" deal with Williams.[3]
