TheAeneid (Latin:Aeneis) is anepic poem written byVirgil between29 and19 BC. It tells thestory of "piousAeneas".[1]

Aeneas is a Trojan warrior who had to leave his city because the Greeks captured Troy after a long war. It starts with Aeneas carrying his fatherAnchises out of the burningTroy. It ends with Aeneas landing on theshores ofItaly, fighting in the region of Rome. It can be read as indirectpropaganda in favour ofAugustus, theRoman Emperor of the day.

The story is written inhexameters, a type of verse.
