| Selected article![]() Tropical Storm Barry was atropical cyclone that grew quickly. It madelandfall onFlorida in early June 2007. It was the secondAtlanticnamed storm of the2007 Atlantic hurricane season. Barry formed in theGulf of Mexico. It moved toward the northeast, and reached top wind speeds of 60 mph (95 km/h). It then weakened and made landfall near Tampa Bay,Florida. Barry quickly weakened afterwind shear blew away most of thethunderstorms. Barry moved up theEast Coast of the United States and by June 5, it was taken over by a larger storm. Rain from Barry in theCuban province ofPinar del Río hurt three people and damaged 55 houses. In Florida, Barry caused heavy rain in an area that had been indrought.Flooding and wet roads killed two people in traffic accidents. Rough seas killed onesurfer in Pinellas County, Florida. In Florida andGeorgia, the rain helpedfirefighters fightwildfires. Damage from the storm was minor. |
