A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android
Shattered Pixel Dungeon is a traditional roguelike dungeon crawler RPG that's simple to get into but hard to master! Every game is a unique challenge, with six different heroes, randomized levels and enemies, and hundreds of items to collect and use. ShatteredPD is also updated with new content roughly every three months, so there's always something new.

Each of ShatteredPD's six playable heroes has their own unique mechanics and gameplay style. Cut down foes as the durable Warrior or deadly Duelist, fry your enemies as the arcane Mage or divine Cleric, or use terrain to your advantage as the stealthy Rogue or the markswoman Huntress!

ShatteredPD's dungeon is procedurally generated with random layouts, room types, items, traps, and enemies. In each game you'll find equipment and collect or craft consumable items to power you up or help you out in a pinch. There is a huge variety to what you might see from run to run and region to region.

The Dungeon is filled with enemies, traps, hazards, and bosses intent on ending your run! Battle hostile wildlife in the sewers and caves, mad thieves and guards in the prison, occult servants in the fallen dwarven city, and maybe something even worse further down...

ShatteredPD is based on the open source code ofPixel Dungeon byWatabou (first released in late 2012). It started in 2014 as a project to rebalance Pixel Dungeon but has steadily grown into its own game over the last 10 years!
Shattered Pixel Dungeon is available in both free and paid versions on Itch.io. The paid version includes a few cosmetic extras such as the ability to rename heroes and items, and extra pages in the game's rankings screen. Please consider supporting development so that I can keep making games!
Shattered Pixel Dungeon's soundtrack is also available on Itch.io!

It’s fairly common for java-based applications to falsely trigger antivirus software. I can assure you that there’s no malicious code in the game, the code for the free version is actually entirely open source:https://github.com/00-Evan/shattered-pixel-dungeon
Sorry to hear the game isn’t working for you. Do you get any response at all or does the game simply not launch?
You can find an archive of old releases on Github here, do either v3.1.1 or v3.0.2 work for you?https://github.com/00-Evan/shattered-pixel-dungeon/releases/
Thanks for the offer! Shattered has a public translation community here:https://app.transifex.com/shattered-pixel/shattered-pixel-dungeon/
Hello! I love the Pixel Dungeon (and most versions of the game, such as Shattered), and I wished to install this version on my PC. However, after trying to run the .exe , I got the error "Failed to run JVM". Even after I downloaded a 32bit version of jdk, tried running the .jar files, or redownloaded java, I cannot start the game.
I'm using a Windows 11 (obviously on x64), and I'm using the "Shattered Pixel Dungeon v3.1.0 windows". Do you have any way to fix/help?
If you’re downloading the game from here then there’s no reason to download a separate version of Java, there’s already one bundled with the game. If you are downloading the .JAR version from github, then it’ll be entirely dependent on which version of Java you use, I’d suggest a modern version built for 64-bit Windows 11.
Hey hey, been playin this game for years and loving the game and how it has been updated. A few small questions comes in mind when experiencing the game~
•Would there be any plan to update UI for the alchemy pot cooking? Example as adding a new illustration or some sort
•As there's already a few new heroes in the game, how many more roles would be added in the game? The possibility is endless and the knowledge that a new character will be added in every big updates sound so fun!
•Reading the lore has been quite enjoyable. Are there any possibility for the main story to be extended or will it be new side events/story?
Amazing work! Keep it up ❤️
Thanks for the kind words!
I agree that the current alchemy UI background is a bit sparse on larger displays. It’s not a priority currently but it is something I’d like to make a bit more detailed.
I don’t currently have plans to add a 7th+ hero, each new hero is a lot of work and I want to be very confident that they’ll fit well into the game before making them. I would like to expand existing hero options at some point though, such as with more talents or subclasses.
More lore will also hopefully be added at some point in the future. Now that all six of my planned heroes are in the game I would like to add a bit of writing that focuses on them.
I have never seen the game like this before! It is amazing enough for me because Shattered Pixel Dungeon has various content in such small files.Because of its high difficulty,I will feel really excited if I finish this game.
Thanks for the author creating this wonderful world for us,I wish it will become better and better!
I think you are too impolite. Not only is it not a responsibility for anyone to reply others, but it isn't totally good for the development for the community.
The posts all you have sent are meaningless, aren't them? You are so excessive for help and your attitude is so bad that nobody want to accept your advices.
As the saying fromGenshin Impact goes," As long as you don't lose your sublimity, the whole world will be open to you."We need to be friendly, and then the world must be more beautiful!
The Warrior actually has the highest winrate among all the heroes, but it doesn’t feel like he’s very strong as one of his biggest sources of power (the broken seal’s shielding) is very passive and incremental. I’m actually going to be changing that up to try and make his power more noticeable in the next update.
Honestly it’s hard to pick a specific thing that’s different between Shattered and the original Pixel Dungeon, there are fewer things that are similar at this point! Almost everything is different gameplay-wise aside from the very core gameplay loop, but if you’d like a little summary of the biggest visual changes I did write a blog post about that semi-recently:https://shatteredpixel.com/blog/ten-years-of-shattered-pixel-dungeon.html
Unfortunately there isn’t any difficulty selection. I have considered adding a ‘start mode’ at some point, but it would probably end at floor 10.
In the meantime though, you shouldn’t be afraid of dieing, trying and failing and trying again is the best way to learn. There’s also an in-game guidebook meant to help point you in the right direction.
Can you publish the Android version of the game on itch? I'm a player from China, and it's easier for me to download and play the game on itch. I know you released the Android version of the game somewhere else, but those ways are a little too annoying (for me). Because I need to turn on the VPN (because of the firewall) to download it that way, and then I have to put up with the slow internet speed when I turn on the VPN (I can skip this on itch because I can open it directly)
so plzzz
I double checked to remind myself and this is due to Shattered being a ‘pay what you want’ game on itch.io. Due to the way itch’s system works, ANY payment, even $0.01, would entitle someone to a Steam key. I can’t set a minimum payment threshold like I can for the separate ‘paid’ files you can download directly from itch. Because of this the only way to offer Steam keys here would be to also remove the free version and only charge $10 up-front.
