Predstavlja adaptacijuistoimenog romana Victora Hugoa. Radnja se događa u Parizu u 15. vijeku, a naslovni protagonist, čijem liku glas posuđujeTom Hulce, jeQuasimoda, nakazni zvonar istoimene crkve koji nastoji zaštiti lijepuCiganku Esmeraldu (kojoj glas posuđujeDemi Moore). The Hunchback, za koga su kritičari primijetili da je po sadržaju nešto mračniji od drugih filmovaDisneyeve renesanse, nije dobio pretjerane pohvale, s obzirom da su mu zamjerali prevliku sentimantalnost. Usprkos toga je postigao veliki komercijalni uspjeh. Godine 2002. je snimljendirect-to-video nastavak pod naslovomThe Hunchback of Notre Dame II.
