The first book ever printed in the Ottoman Empire was Arbaah Turim (Four Orders of the Code of Law), written by Jacob ben Asher and published by brothers David and Samuel ibn Nahmias in 1493.  Throughout the centuries, Sephardim thrived in the field of printing and publishing liturgical and secular books and newspapers in Hebrew and Ladino. The tradition continues today at Gözlem Kitap, where you can find a wide variety of Hebrew, Turkish, and Ladino publications.

Sefarad Kültürü Araştırma Derneğimiz Türk Yahudilerinin kültürel mirasını belgelemek, arşivlemek ve gelecek kuşaklara iletmek üzere kurulmuştur. Türk Musevi Cemaati’nin şemsiyesi altında kurulan derneğimiz Aralık 2003 tarihinden beri 520 yıllık bir tarihe sahip olan cemaatimizin kültür mirası ile gurur duymalarını sağlayacak birçok esere ve akademik çalışmaya başarıyla imza atmıştır. La Famiya Mozotros Judeo-Espanyol dilinde yayınlanmış dünyadaki ilk ve tek karikatür kitabıdır. İrvin Mandel’in keskin gözlemlerinin sonucu ortaya çıkan bu harikulade eser Türk Sefarad kültürünün en esprili yönlerini tanıtması açısından son derece önemlidir. El Sentro Kultural Sefardi, fundido en Disembre 2003, es una sub-institusyon de la Komunidad Judia de Turkiya, ke tiene una istoria de 520 anyos. El Sentro se fundio kon el objektivo de rekojer i dokumentar la erensya kultural de los Judios de Turkiya i de transmeterlo a las futuras jenerasyones. Desde ke se fundio, muestro Sentro reusho a publikar munchas ovras i azer lavoros akademikos ke kavzaran los miembros de muestra komunidad de ser orgulyozos de sus istoria i kultura. La Famiya Mozotros es el primer i uniko livro de karikaturas publikado en Judeo-Espanyol en el mundo. Esta ovra es el rezultado de las maraviyozas observasiones de İrvin Mandel refletando el ekstraordinaryo umor Sefaradi-Turko. The Sephardic Center in Istanbul was founded under the auspices of the Chief Rabbinate of Turkey in December 2003 with the aim of documenting, collecting and archiving the cultural treasury of the Jews of Turkey, who have a long history of 520 years. Our most important objective is to transmit this heritage to future generations. Our Center has published many works and has done a lot of academic work, which will make the members of our community proud of their history and culture. La Famiya Mozotros is the first and only book of caricatures in Judeo-Spanish in the world. This masterpiece is the result of the wonderful observations of Irvin Mandel, whose acute sense of humor reflects the character of the Turkish Sephardic community.
