The first book ever printed in the Ottoman Empire was Arbaah Turim (Four Orders of the Code of Law), written by Jacob ben Asher and published by brothers David and Samuel ibn Nahmias in 1493. Throughout the centuries, Sephardim thrived in the field of printing and publishing liturgical and secular books and newspapers in Hebrew and Ladino.
