TEL, also known as Tokyo Electron Ltd., develops equipment for semiconductor manufacturing.

Founded in 1963 as Tokyo Electron Laboratories Inc., the company makes equipment for etch, wafer cleaning, deposition, thermal processing, test, probing, surface preparation, bonding/debonding, epitaxial CVD, sputtering and advanced packaging.

The company started out as a sales agency for Fairchild Semiconductor, shifting to manufacturing and distribution of car radios in the late 1960s. It has since moved into production equipment for IC manufacturing, flat-panel displays and networking devices.
