In their shadow, early flowering plants grow as shrubby understory trees. This provides shelter and food for the small animals of the local ecosytem, while larger trees provided sustenance to passing migratory megafauna. A groundcover of ferns and herbal angiosperms feed an abundant community ofpachycephalosaurs andthescelosaurs, which are in turn haunted by predatory dromaeosaurids."

TheRedwood forest is one of the most iconic biomes in the game, mainly due to the fact that it's the most visually emblematic and most common biome in the game. AIDakotaraptorare actually very easily found here in all life stages. Due to the large redwood sequoia trees, the space is somewhat narrow for largeTriceratops,AnatosaurusandTyrannosaurusto live, but they are not rare there. The forest is home for small carnivores, likeAcheroraptor,Didelphodon,PectinodonandPalaeosaniwa, and small to medium-sized herbivores and omnivores, likePachycephalosaurus,ornithomimids,Denversaurus,Chamops,Basilemys andThescelosaurus.Ankylosaurus can be found here with less frequency, but are found in the edges of the map. As for plant life, the biome is filled by redwood trees, likeSequoiaandMetasequoia, which form the most formidable and emblematic flora of the area. Occasional cypress trees, likeGlyptostrobus andTaxodium may be found, but they are more associated to the swamp areas. Undergrowths composed of ferns are common, from the abundantblechnacean andosmundacean ferns to the more primitive and more swamp associatedEquisetum. Angiosperms like theMarmarthia,cannabaceans andSymplocarpus can be found, as well as theZingiberopsis, though these grow closer to the swamps.
