Griffin Alkyd paints (based on alkyd resins) of Winsor & Newton dried on microscope glass slides and subjected to biodeterioration treatment according to ASTM standard practice G21-96(2002). At the end of the experimental period (28 days), fungal growth was easily observed. (a) Titanium white; (b) viridian; (c) cerulean blue.

Fungal growth on a dried polyvinyl acetate-based emulsion, viewed with a stereomicroscope. Bar = 1,000 μm.
