TNA News

Jan 24, 2011 - 03:03 PM

Former WWE and TNA wrestler Sean Waltman told the Miami Herald about the suicide attempt the preceded his stay in WWE sponsored rehab. "I was in Mexico for three years," Waltman recalled. "When I was there, things got really bad. I got in a heated argument that turned into physicality with my girlfriend [Alicia Webb]. I ended up striking her back.

"I always told myself that I would die before I would hit a woman. So when I did that, I was overcome with guilt and shame. I had no tools to handle it. The only thing I could think of was take a whole bottle of Valium or what was left of the bottle. It was probably around 400 milligrams of Valium.

“I hung myself from the roof of my apartment. It was the darkest moment of my life, or one of them, to get me to do that. It was a lot of build up that I didn’t know how to deal with. I was dead. (Webb) got me down, which I don’t know how she did it. She is like superwoman. I swear. She did CPR and all that. She kept me alive for 45 minutes until the ambulance arrived. Then I was really on life support for three days.

“Kevin Nash was there the next day. As soon as I got out of the hospital, he was there. I went to a place to the Menninger Clinic in Houston, Texas. I stayed four months. It was fantastic. I learned so much about myself. I’m still a mess. Don’t get me wrong. It’s just I have the tools to deal with it now." To read the full interview, visitMiamiHerald.com.

Powell's POV: Waltman had more to say about the process and also hyped the online show he's doing atCowheadTV.com. Waltman also noted that he contracted Hepatitis C and stated that he is able to wrestle, but there can't be blood involved. "There are other guys who have had and still do have the same thing," Waltman said. "They just choose to not be open like I am."

Waltman was also very critical of TNA creative, and said he would work there "strictly for the money." Whether you agree with him or not, Waltman is always a straight shooter in his interviews, and thus it's an interesting read.
