Alston was mortally wounded by ashot tothe head, and died later that day, in Atlanta,FultonCounty, Ga.,March11, 1879 (ageabout 46years). Cox was also shot and injured, but recovered, wasconvicted of murder, and sentenced to life imprisonment.Interment atDecaturCemetery, Decatur, Ga.
