Elmer Bernstein (ur.4 kwietnia1922 wNowym Jorku[1], zm.18 sierpnia2004 wOjai[2]) –amerykańskikompozytor idyrygent, znany głównie z tworzeniamuzyki filmowej.
Bernstein urodził się w rodzinieżydowskiej[3]. Był synem pochodzącego zAustro-Węgier Edwarda (1896–1968) i Selmy (z domu Feinstein; 1901–1991)[4], która pochodziła zUkrainy[5].
Był autorem głównych tematów lub innych motywów muzycznych do ponad 200 filmów[6], w tym:Siedmiu wspaniałych (1960),Dziesięcioro przykazań (1956) iZabić drozda (1962). Był 14 razy nominowany doOscara, raz go zdobywając[6], zdobył jedną nagrodęEmmy, dwukrotnie został uhonorowany nagrodąZłoty Glob, był także dwukrotnie nominowany do nagrodyTony[7].
Bernstein zmarł na raka w domu wOjai (Kalifornia)[8][2].
