Free and Projective Bimodal Symmetric Gödel Algebras.Revaz Grigolia,TatianaKiseliova &Vladimer Odisharia -2016 -Studia Logica 104 (1):115-143.detailsGödel logic is the extension of intuitionistic logic by the linearity axiom. Symmetric Gödel logic is a logical system, the language of which is an enrichment of the language of Gödel logic with their dual logical connectives. Symmetric Gödel logic is the extension of symmetric intuitionistic logic. The proof-intuitionistic calculus, the language of which is an enrichment of the language of intuitionistic logic by modal operator was investigated by Kuznetsov and Muravitsky. Bimodal symmetric Gödel logic is a logical system, the (...) language of which is an enrichment of the language of Gödel logic with their dual logical connectives and two modal operators. Bimodal symmetric Gödel logic is embedded into an extension of Gödel–Löb logic, the language of which contains disjunction, conjunction, negation and two modal operators. The variety of bimodal symmetric Gödel algebras, that represent the algebraic counterparts of bimodal symmetric Gödel logic, is investigated. Description of free algebras and characterization of projective algebras in the variety of bimodal symmetric Gödel algebras is given. All finitely generated projective bimodal symmetric Gödel algebras are infinite, while finitely generated projective symmetric Gödel algebras are finite. (shrink)

Studying trait-characteristics and neural correlates of the emotional ego- and altercentric bias using an audiovisual paradigm.Tatiana Goregliad Fjaellingsdal,Nikolas Makowka &Ulrike M. Krämer -2023 -Cognition and Emotion 37 (4):818-834.detailsIn social interactions, emotional biases can arise when the emotional state of oneself and another person are incongruent. A person’s ability to judge the other’s emotional state can then be biased by their own emotional state, leading to an emotional egocentric bias (EEB). Alternatively, a person’s perception of their own emotional state can be biased by the other’s emotional state leading to an emotional altercentric bias (EAB). Using a modified audiovisual paradigm, we examined in three studies (n = 171; two (...) online & one lab-based study) whether emotional biases can be considered traits by measuring two timepoints within participant and relating empathy trait scores to emotional biases, as well as the electrophysiological correlates of emotional biases. In all studies, we found a congruency effect, reflecting an EEB and EAB of small size. Both biases failed to correlate significantly within participants across timepoints and did not display significant relationships with empathy trait scores. On the electrophysiological level, we did not find any neural emotional bias effects in the time–frequency domain. Our results suggest that EEB and EAB effects are strongly task sensitive. Caution is warranted when studying interindividual differences in emotional biases using this paradigm, as they did not show significant test-retest reliabilities. (shrink)
Towards Selected Aspects of Interpretivism in Social Knowledge.Tatiana Sedova -2011 -Filozofia 66 (8):769-781.detailsOn the background of the status of social sciences and the fragmentarization of social knowledge the paper explains interpretivism as an explanatory method characteristic of social sciences. While describing the nature of interpretivism it underlines the inspiring contribution of analytical philosophy of language: the communication theory of meaning, Davidsonian and Quinean reflections on interpretation. The author argues, that the interpretive approach to social facts together with the concept of action embody a potential, which could be effective in overcoming the epistemological (...) and methodological splitting in social knowledge. The Mental Present and Non-religious Concepts of Eternity.Tatiana Alexeevna Alexina -1996 -Dialogue and Universalism 6 (5):69-72.detailsA humanistic approach to the human subject includes a philosophical conception of the mental present as the centre of subjectivity. The mental present differs greatly from the physical present - they may be considered as opposites. The physical present is something disappearing. It cannot be caught; it comes and goes away at once. The mental present does not disappear; it is eternally with the human subject while he is alive.

The Artistic Modelling of History in the Aesthetic Consciousness of a Time Period as a Methodological Problem of Postmodernism.Tatiana Marchenko,Sergii Komarov,Maryna Shkuropat,Iryna Skliar &Yevgeniya Bielitska -2022 -Postmodern Openings 13 (2):198-212.detailsCreated during a certain time period of the world’s art development, fictional history embodies not only a set of individual authorial creative acts, but it is the only "artistic-historical model" conditioned by a number of objective aesthetic and non-aesthetic factors. As such, fictional history represents an integral part of the national worldview. Its exploration requires a combinatorial unity of methods. The article proposes a set of modern methodological principles for studying the processes of artistic modelling of history in the aesthetic (...) consciousness on the synchronous level and their representation in literary works. The methods of academic literary criticism are combined with the advanced methods of modern interdisciplinary humanities that are based on postmodern philosophy. Thus, in the chosen combination of the scientific approaches, the heuristic potential of the structural-semiotic and structural-typological methods, mythopoetics and myth-restoration, imagology, hermeneutics, and receptive aesthetics, correlates with the methods of systematic and descriptive analysis. Such diverse theoretical combinations, the existence of a kind of "methodological sinusoid" within the study, do not contradict but complement each other. (shrink)

Children, nation and reactors: Imagining and promoting nuclear power in contemporary Ukraine.Tatiana Kasperski -2019 -Centaurus 61 (1-2):51-69.detailsThis article examines public communication about atomic energy as an important vector in the political, institutional, and technological transformations of Ukraine's nuclear industry since the breakup of the USSR. It explores the ongoing effort to make the atom more domestic, familiar, human, and accessible against the not-so-distant backdrop of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in 1986. The central focus of this article is the analysis of children's drawings of nuclear power stations produced for art contests organized by local nuclear information centers. (...) These contests and other activities of the centers have contributed to the increased visibility of nuclear power in Ukraine. The drawings reveal the inscription of the atom into complex representations about the Ukrainian nation, its past, present, traditions, and modernity. The analysis of these drawings as well as government and nuclear power station (NPP) documents, press articles, and interviews indicates that the notion of the “domestication” of the atom is a particularly appropriate way to describe the banalization of nuclear technologies in Ukraine. (shrink)

Yoga for the wounded heart: a journey, philosophy, and practice of healing emotional pain.Tatiana Forero Puerta -2018 - Brooklyn, New York: Lantern Books.detailsOrphaned in her early teens and shuttled between abusive foster homes,Tatiana Forero Puerta found herself in her early twenties in New York City, haunted by the memories of her tumultuous youth and suicidal. Following emergency hospitalization, she was advised by her doctor to take up yoga. Over days, weeks, months, and then years, she embraced yoga's honesty and discipline--delving more deeply into its wisdom, literature, and, vitally, its practice. In so doing, yoga healed her scars, opened her soul (...) to forgiveness, and allowed her to reconcile herself with a past that had threatened to snuff out her life. Yoga for the Wounded Heart is an unsparingly honest memoir of a childhood lost and of courage and resilience gained. It's also an exploration of the fundamentals of yoga: as a technology that focuses our awareness; as a practical application of mindfulness and attention to what is really going on in our lives and bodies; and as a vehicle for the body to guide the mind and heart toward healing. Operations on proofs and labels.Tatiana Yavorskaya &Natalia Rubtsova -2007 -Journal of Applied Non-Classical Logics 17 (3):283-316.detailsLogic of proofs LP was introduced by S. Artemov in. It describes properties of the proof predicate “t is a proof of F” formalized by the formula ⟦t⟧ F. Proofs are represented by terms constructed by three elementary recursive operations on proofs. In this paper we extend the language of the logic of proofs by the additional storage predicate x ∋ F with the intended interpretation “x is a label for F”. The storage predicate can play the role of syntax (...) encoding, so it is useful for specification of operations on proofs, especially those that require formula arguments. We give a definition of a specification of an operation on proofs and introduce logics that describe such operations. For a large class of operations we prove the completeness of these logics with respect to the intended semantics. We also study the logic describing the operation of substitution. (shrink)
Free Market Ideology and New Women’s Identities in Post-socialist Ukraine.Tatiana Zhurzhenko -2001 -European Journal of Women's Studies 8 (1):29-49.detailsTransition to the market economy in post-socialist Ukraine, followed by the destruction of the ‘working mother’ gender contract, has led to the emergence of new forms of women’s identities. But the formation of new identities in the transformational period appeared to be mediated by free market ideology, linked to the development of consumer capitalism and dissemination of western consumer standards and lifestyles. The seeming diversity of the new identities promised by the ‘free market’ turned out to be reduced to two (...) models: housewife and businesswoman. Imported along with western mass culture, they can easily be inscribed onto the Ukrainian cultural context. At the same time, the everyday practice of economic survival through informal business and the difficulties of adaptation to the market economy have a profound impact on women’s identity formation. The Creativity of Theatrical Geniuses in “the Proposed Circumstances” of the October Revolution.Tatiana S. Zlotnikova -2017 -Russian Studies in Philosophy 55 (3-4):239-251.detailsThis article considers revolution as a political clash and revolutionism as an aesthetic position, which is a topic inspired by the philosophical, social, and aesthetic experience of the twentieth century. This topic has been considered on the eve of the 100-year anniversary of the October Revolution. The author proceeds from the claim that one of the theatrical geniuses, Vsevolod E. Meyerhold, was, above all, a man of politics, while the other, Yevgeny B. Vakhtangov, was first and foremost a man of (...) art. The revolutionary pathos of Vakhtangov’s work is paradoxically actualized through the concept of myth and compassion as an alternative to cruelty and destruction. The personality of Meyerhold is described within the context of the revolutionary scene and in the unique mode of revolutionary nature and action. The experience of these theatrical geniuses in all their personal contradictions and artistic difference shows that it is possible to live during a time of revolution, but it is impossible to live in a constant state of revolution. Only creativity, as a source of hope and harmony, is an alternative to chaos and destruction. (shrink)

In his essay on the work of art, Benjamin approaches the phe-nomenon of the aestheticization of politics, to which, in his own words, com-munism must respond with the politicization of art. In this paper I will focus on this problem, and I will examine the hypothesis that the diagnosis of a “aestheticization” is not exclusive, in the framework of Benjamin’s philosophy, of the field of art and its relation to politics. I will argue that this prob-lem is also rooted in history in the form of an aestheticization of the past, to which Benjamin, above all in the thesis “On the concept of history”, proposes to respond with the politicization of history. Is Paid Surrogacy a Form of Reproductive Prostitution? A Kantian Perspective.Tatiana Patrone -2018 -Cambridge Quarterly of Healthcare Ethics 27 (1):109-122.details:This article reexamines the “prostitution objection” to paid surrogacy, and argues that rebuttals to this objection fail to focus on surrogates as embodied persons. This failure is based on the false distinction between “selling one’s reproductive services” and “selling one’s body.” To ground the analysis of humans as embodied persons, this article uses Kant’s late ethical theory, which develops the conceptual framework for understanding human beings as embodied selves. Literature on surrogacy commonly emphasizes that all Kantian duties heed to the (...) categorical prohibition to treat persons as mere means. What this literature leaves out is that this imperative commands us more specifically to engage ourselves and others as embodied persons. This article aims to relate this point to a specific issue in assisted reproduction. It argues that a Kantian account of human beings as embodied persons prohibits paid surrogacy on exactly the same grounds as it prohibits prostitution. (shrink)
