De kruidhofjes: 45 medicijnen tegen dwaasheid en maatschappelijke onrust.D. V. Coornhert -2023 - Hilversum: Verloren. Edited by Ruben Buys.
(shrink)

Understanding problem in contemporary hermeneutics.D. V. Varygin -2012 -Liberal Arts in Russia 1 (1):67.
Some problems of modern hermeneutics are considered in the article. The hermeneutic practice and theory are correlated with insufficient elaboration of the latter. Rational and irrational hermeneutics are established. To understand the meaning of the text it is necessary to overcome the author’s subjectivity and the language imperfection. The author outlines the main features of the hermeneutic logic and its non-classical character. The hermeneutic truth depends on the position of the author and not just on the objective reality. Importance, relevance (...) and development prospects of the understanding problem in philosophy of natural sciences are specified. (shrink)

Plotinus's TreatiseOn the Virtues (I.2) and Its Interpretation by Porphyry and Marinus.D. V. Bugai -2003 -Russian Studies in Philosophy 42 (1):84-95.
As is well known, Plotinus's philosophy served as the starting point for the development of all Neoplatonism. It created the basic schema that set the framework for the thought of all later representatives of this tendency from Porphyry to Damascius. The doctrine of the transcendence of the One, of the three original hypostases, the application of the categories of Plato's Parmenides in the construction of ontology—all this and much else besides became the property of the Neoplatonic schools, which were scattered (...) throughout the Roman empire, and was incorporated partly into the Christian theology, which was then in the process of formation. Naturally, as a result of its wide dissemination and the change in its cultural and social environment, Plotinus's legacy appeared in a different light and took on new forms; through these changes in form we can try to understand the difference in content. For this purpose Plotinus's treatise on the virtues is of special interest. The point is that Porphyry relies precisely on this treatise and at times even literally borrows large fragments from it in setting out the doctrine concerning the virtues in the thirty-second maxim . The same treatise serves as a basis for Marinus in his biography of Proclus. The aim of my lecture is to analyze the content of the treatise and its interpretations. (shrink)

  32. Non-being in ancient thought.D. V. Nikulin -2025 - New York, NY, United States of America: Oxford University Press.
Being is at the forefront of philosophical debate from its very beginning, whereas non-being is often considered as a derivative of being and an obstacle for thought. Yet, as this book argues, non-being is crucial for the constitution and understanding of being, without which being can neither be nor thought. The monograph provides a critical, historical, and systematic reconstruction of the concept of non-being in ancient philosophy from Pre-Socratic thought to Neoplatonism, in the works of Parmenides, Democritus, Plato, Diogenes, Aristotle, (...) Plotinus, and Simplicius. Most contemporary studies of ontology in antiquity are dedicated to being in its philosophical and philological significance. However, the book shows that ancient thinkers argue for the centrality of non-being in the understanding of being. Because non-being is not, and thus cannot be thought on its own, it needs a special philosophical apparatus and language for its investigation and expression. (shrink)

Technological alienation of a person and moral dilemmas as its consequences.D. V. Prokofyeva -2019 -RUDN Journal of Philosophy 23 (3):334-345.
This article aims to identify new moral dilemmas generated by technological progress and its consequence - the phenomenon of technological alienation in modern society. It examines the relationship between the phenomenon of alienation, technological progress and moral dilemmas they cause in modern society. In addition to the emergence of new moral and existential issues that arises as the consequence of the direct “collision” of a person and technologies as a result of their widespread introduction into our lives, we consider moral (...) dilemmas arising from technological progress in such areas of life as politics, economics and education. Each of them poses a deeper problem for the person - an alienation from other people, from the species essence and from oneself, which allows us to designate this question not only as social problem, but also affecting existential questions. Stable Autosoliton of the Action Function as a Particle-Type Structure.D. V. Strunin -2000 -Foundations of Physics 30 (6):933-949.
The Hamilton–Jacobi (HJ) equation for the action function plays a fundamental role in classical mechanics. A known consequence of the HJ equation is a blow-up of a disturbed free-particle solution. Following the idea of Sivashinsky, we formulate an extension of the HJ equation in which perturbations eventually evolve into a finite autosoliton associated with an elementary particle. A novel element of the model is stability of the autosoliton. We link uncertainties in the position and momentum of a particle to a (...) width and amplitude of the autosoliton. We formulate restrictions on the coefficients of the model and compare the model with some existing theories of extended elementary objects. (shrink)

Information Warfare Within the Context of Cybernetic Epistemology.D. V. Bindas -2020 -RUDN Journal of Philosophy 24 (2):297-302.
In the present article the author studies and reviews the essential scientific opinions and discourse on the understanding of the term and phenomena of Cybernetics. The article is the author's vision of the concept of cybernetic epistemology based on its progressive methodological features. The main idea of the understanding of the information warfare category as a complex social system in the context of cybernetic epistemology is also developed in the present research. The concept of complexity theory has not yet been (...) applied in the study of ontological characteristics of the "information warfare" phenomenon so far. This kind of analyzing method allows us to highlight the true essential characteristics of "information warfare". There are recursiveness and spontaneous nature among them. This kind of epistemology methods and their possible and proper application in Cybernetics were analyzed and reviewed in the present paper. Such an analyzing confirmed the relevance of this research for the formalization of the world’s complex phenomena. It also determined the possibility of constructive generalization of knowledge and research data. However, this knowledge should be gained in the process of complex formalization of the studied phenomena characteristics and the maximum permissible changes and transformation in their conditions and forms. The problem of universal salvation in the teaching of Rashid rida.D. V. Mukhetdinov -2019 -RUDN Journal of Philosophy 23 (1):32-45.
The problem of salvation of non-Muslims is a crucial element in the discourse of Islamic modernism. It was no less important for such Islamic thinkers of the classical period as Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya and Abu Ḥamid al-Ġazali. The attention of the author of the present paper focuses on understanding the problem of salvation in the teaching of Muhammad Rashid Rida, who was one of the key participants in the modernist movement in Islam. Being a representative of “intellectual salafism”, Rashid Rida (...) proposes a solution for the issue of salvation that comes as an alternative for traditionalist views predominating in Sunni Islam. The present paper serves to prove that Rida’s quite peculiar solution is deeply rooted in Islamic tradition. In particular, it relates to viewpoints of al-Jawziyya and al-Ġazali, which deflect from mainstream. Similar to many other Islamic modernists, the main although not the only argument of Rida is based on the Quranic idea of all-embracing Divine grace. In his analysis of Rida’s position, the author notes that the former does not lean towards the liberal variant of Islamic reformism that supposes religious pluralism as one of its basic ideas. Advocating the superiority of Muhammad’s message, the Egyptian thinker adhered to a specific form of soteriological inclusivism that differs from religious pluralism. According to Rida, the main criterion for one’s salvation is whether one was touched upon by undistorted Islamic message or not. Rida was convinced that Gehenna only awaits those non-Muslims who received undistorted Islamic message, clearly understood its Divine source and thenintentionally rejected it. But even they may be redeemed, as God is not obligated to act on his declared threat. (shrink)
