    Liberdade contextualizada e sentidos normativos em Foucault.Bruno Sciberras de Carvalho -2023 -Trans/Form/Ação 46 (3):79-98.
The topic of liberty in Foucault becomes controversial when related to the objections, predicted by the author, for the subjects to be located outside the power networks. However, Foucault also points out potential for resistance and a notion of freedom involved by historical circumstances, which suggests original normative questions. In order to analyze the tension between domination and freedom in his work, and what is normatively reflected, two main directions are noted: the idea of freedom as something inherent in power (...) relations and as the foundation of the critical exercise of knowledge. It is argued that Foucault`s estimation of dimensions of freedom generates singular implications of evaluation of social conditions based on a normative temperance. (shrink)

Biography of an inquiry: On a book about modes of existence.Bruno Latour -2013 -Social Studies of Science 43 (2):287-301.
Since the project on Modes of Existence has been long in coming and has connection with all the successive field works done by the author, the paper tries to retrace the main steps that have led to the project. It shows that this project precedes the work done in actor-network theory and explains the link between philosophy and anthropology through the peculiar notion of mode of existence.

    Catalogo e decostruzione.Bruno Moroncini -2012 -Rivista di Estetica 50:343-349.
Against a hermeneutic reading of deconstruction, this essay attempts to prove how, on the contrary, Derrida’s thought opposes itself to the primacy of interpretation. In these terms it revalues Nietzsche’s thesis, according to which there are only interpretations and no facts, and Derrida’s one about nothing existing out of the text, just because this essay reads them as the specific ways both the philosophers use in their attempt to deny the existence of a single interpretation to act as a canon, (...) and to reaffirm text’s independence from any attempt of metaphysical closure. Erkenntnistheorie moralischer Überzeugungen: Ein Entwurf.Bruno Niederbacher -2011 - De Gruyter.

First, I will make clear what the semantical presuppositions of an epistemology of moral beliefs are. Second, I will sort out kinds of epistemologies of moral belief.
What is the relevance of the term "digital divide" is used to denote inequalities between populations, taking into account the level of technology, the rate of users, number of machines, ICT budgets, etc..? Is it a concept that could be used to define policies or investments? In fact, it appears that the digital divide, both between the South and the North and within the same country , is a transposition of other inequalities or exclusion phenomena such as unemployment, precariousness, proletarianization, etc.. Wear on equipment and practices related to computer networks and an exclusive look, isolating the overall economic and social context, is to recognize that ICT development is independent of these general factors, that there is an improvement technology applicable everywhere in the same way and that through ICT, and their only implementation could address inequalities and underdevelopment. The Rational Demand of Kant's Ethics in the Beginning of 1760.Bruno Cunha -2017 -Ethic@: An International Journal for Moral Philosophy 16 (2):219–242.
My aim in this paper is to present a distinct interpretation of the moral problem in young Kant's major writings, namely, Preisschrift and Observations on the Feeling of the Beautiful and the Sublime. In contrast to the traditional reading, I will try to stress, that from analysis of the relation between the formal and material aspects of morality, we are able to verify that there is, indeed, underlying these writings, a rational demand of ethics. Therefore, we can remark that these (...) writings, more than a mere reproduction of British morality, represent a moment of transition in which Kant frees himself from scholastic influence, to investigate in another way the primary concept of moral obligation. In the modern world there are more and more highly stressful occupations. Often among those professions people omit or forget a very stressful job of seafarers, whose work conditions have multiple sources of stress. The authors suggest two ideas which could help seafarers to overcome work challenges more easily. The first proposal is anti-stress program that prevents the causes of stress, both in professional and other parts of life. Other proposal suggests workshops for development of critical thanking with which participants could improve their communication, facilitate locating of the problem and its solutions, and reduce the effects of stress. Strange, very strange, like in a dream.Bruno Osimo -2003 -Sign Systems Studies 31 (1):177-188.
Semiotics applied to translation studies produces an original approach that is generating scientific texts of high interest. On the other side, the notion of “translation” in a broad sense appears very important within semiotics itself, as in Ch. Peirce’s and J. Lotman’s thought. Distinguishing between translation studies’ influences on semiotics and semiotics’ influence on translation studies becomes increasingly difficult. In this article a synthesis is tried: the Soviet film ‘Strogij Yunosha’ is analyzed using the tools of both disciplines. At first (...) the concept of “strange” is analyzed from a semiotic point of view, looking also for etymological reasons to classify strangeness as simple difference or as inimicality. Then cultural implicit is considered as the problem of mediation between Self and Other, both in a collective and in an individual (psychological) sense. The ways of relating to the Other are then considered in the light of a systemic approach to the cultural polysystem, in which the least unit or subsystem is the individual. The film is then decomposed in many “worlds”, and their borders and relations are viewed in the light of the aforementioned approaches. Such translatological analysis of the film allows to hypothesize why it was banned from the Soviet regime. (shrink)

Rights and the Communitarian Ideal.Bruno Rea -1988 -Idealistic Studies 18 (2):107-122.
Under the democratic auspices of our time, rights have tended to be distributed generously and widely—if not in deed, at least in word. The tendency has been to widen their legitimate applicability from humans to all sentient beings, to all living beings, and, as some would have it, to the environment as a whole. Fortunately, this penchant for cataloging virtually every human relation, ambition, and aspiration in terms of rights and duties has not gone unopposed. On the one hand, there (...) are those who, though essentially committed to rights and their place within political discourse, are nonetheless distressed by a seemingly endless and senseless proliferation. They are concerned that in becoming widely palatable, rights have become common fare, thin in substance and all too frequently misunderstood and misapplied. Theirs is a mission of separating the genuine article from the many pretenders. (shrink)

Flowing and framing: Language ideology, circulation, and authority in a Pentecostal Bible school.Bruno Reinhardt -2015 -Pragmatics and Society 6 (2):261-287.
Experiential and mediatized, Pentecostal Christianity is one of the most successful cases of contemporary religious globalization. However, it has often grown and expanded transnationally without clear authoritative contours. That is the case in contemporary Ghana, where Pentecostal claims about charismatic empowerment have fed public anxieties concerning the fake and the occult. This article examines how Pentecostalism’s dysfunctional circulation is countered within seminaries, or Bible schools, by specific strategies of pastoral training. First, I revisit recent debates on Protestant language ideology in (...) the anthropology of Christianity, and stress Pentecostalism’s affinity with notions of flow and saturation of speech by divine presence. Second, I move to data collected in the Anagkazo Bible and Ministry Training Center, and investigate this institution’s pedagogical framing of Pentecostalism’s otherwise erratic flow of speech and power according to two normative operations: Biblical figuration and the emic notion of transmission as ‘impartation’. I conclude by stressing how the metapragmatics of figuration and impartation in Anagkazo requires an understanding of religious circulation that exceeds the dominant scholarly focus on religion-as-mediation. The purpose of this article is to point out five aspects of Nietzschean thought that may be relevant to debates in the philosophy of science around the nature and representation of scientific knowledge. To this end, a literature review is carried out with the aim of selecting excerpts from Nietzschean works such as The Birth of Tragedy, Genealogy of Morals, The Gay Science and others that allow us to interpret Nietzsche as a philosopher of science concerned with the construction of (...) scientific knowledge about the physical reality. As a result, it is possible to identify an epistemological proposal in the Nietzschean perspective, whose objective representation of the world should point to an aesthetics of life. (shrink)

(HH), Herm. Montepessulana (HMp), Herm. Bruxellensia (HB), Herm. Stephani (HS), Herm. Leidensia (HL), Herm. Monacensia (HM), Herm. Einsidlensia (HE), Herm.
