The Real-time download system and method of music file on the air
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a download method and system of a music file,
and more particularly, to a real-time download system and method of a music file on the air, in which when a radio listener wants to download music that is currently being heard
while listening to music, which is broadcasted from the radio played from a computer or
the radio built in a mobile phone, he or she transmits a corresponding music file to his or her computer or mobile phone in real-time, thus obviating inconvenience that a user has
to select and download a music file separately, cultivating a healthy business culture of
music files, and protecting the profits of a copyright holder for music files.
Background Art
In a conventional music market, a user purchased music CDs or music tapes offline. However, in recent years, a system in which a user purchases music files over a communication network for user convenience has been generalized in line with the development of a communication network such as an Internet network.
In the prior art, when a user wants to purchase a music file over a communication network, the user must experience the process of gaining access to a website (-including a database in which several music files are stored) that sells music files using his computer, searching and selecting a desired music file from the website, and downloading the music file through a method such as pre-listening, which is provided for a specific time period. However, in this process, in order for a user to download a music file, the user has to access a server over a communication network. Even after the access, the user has to search for music files within the database of the website that provides the music files in order to find a desired music file. Accordingly, there are problems in that lots of time is consumed and it is inconvenient.
As another prior art proposed to solve the above conventional problems, Korean Patent Registration Publication No. 10-0387124 proposed "Broadcasting real-time on demand download system of music file". The technology disclosed in Korean Patent Registration Publication No. 10-
0387124 includes, as shown in FIG. 1, a communication network 5 enabling wireless/wireless data communications; a first service providing server 1 for storing each M code having a unique number and assigned to each music, and a corresponding music file; a TV 6 having a screen on which the M code of music on the air is displayed; a first terminal 7 connected to the first service providing server 1 over the communication network 5 and configured to input the M code of music that will be downloaded and a telephone number; a second service providing server 2 for receiving a music file in real-time from the first service providing server 1 over the communication network 5 and making a call to a second terminal 3 to which the music is downloaded; and the second terminal 3 for downloading the music file from the second service providing server 2.
In the above another conventional technology, when a user sees and hears music broadcasting through the TV 6, a corresponding M code of music on the air is displayed on the TV screen.
Thus, if a desired music to be downloaded is on the air while the user sees and hears the music broadcasting, the user confirms a corresponding M code on the screen or through a direct comment. After confirming the M code, the user makes a telephone call to the first service providing server 2 that provides an automatic voice response system (ARS) using the first terminal 1. In response to a request to input the M code of the music to be downloaded through ARS from the first service providing server 2, the user inputs a corresponding M code by manipulating the keypad of the first terminal 7. In response to a request to input a telephone number on which the music will be downloaded from the first service providing server 2, the user inputs a telephone number of the second terminal 7. After this input is completed, the first service providing server 1 transmits a corresponding music file to which the input M code has been assigned as a unique number, of music files stored in the database, to the second service providing server 2.
Thereafter, the second service providing server 2 makes a call to the second terminal 3 specified by the user, and then transmits a music file, requested by the user, to the second terminal 3.
As described above, music that is currently being broadcasting on TV can be downloaded through only the input of an M code. At this time, when the second terminal 3 is powered off or is in an unreceivable state such as an area where reception is impossible, the second service providing server 2 temporarily stores a received music file in a temporary storage such as a voice message box. After the second terminal 3 is in a receivable state, the second service providing server 2 makes a call to the second terminal 3 again and sends the stored music file to the second terminal 3.
Further, even when sending a music file, such as a music letter or MP3, to another person, the second service providing server 2 receives the music file and makes a call to a counterpart's second terminal 3 by inputting only a M code of a corresponding music and the counterpart's telephone number as described above. The above another conventional technology is advantageous in that a user can download a desired music file using a M code of the music while seeing and hearing broadcasting without the need for additional complicated search in order to download the music file, but has the following problems.
The user must make every call to the first service providing server 1 that provides ARS using the first terminal 7 in order to download a music file while seeing and hearing TV, input a M code of the music file, and even input the number of the second terminal 7 to which the music file will be downloaded.

A real-time download system of a music file on the air according to the present invention basically includes, as shown in FIG. 2, a broadcasting company server 30, a user terminal 40 and so on. In a first embodiment, the real-time download system includes the broadcasting company server 30, a mobile communication company server
50, a mobile communication terminal 60 and the like.
The broadcasting company server 30 largely includes a music file database 32, a music file transmission unit 36, a billing system 38, a radio broadcast transmission unit
34 and so on. The broadcasting company server 30 constructed above is provided with music files from a music file (sound source) providing company 10, such as a copyright association or a sound source management company, through a cooperation with a specific sound source sales.
The music file can be transmitted easily over a communication network such as an Internet or a telephone line, and has a format such as MP3, OGG, WMA or WAC, K)
which can be stored in storage devices such as hard disk or flash memory. The broadcasting company server 30 can be provided with the music file from a music file providing company, a phonograph record company, etc., or can extract the music file from a CD, etc., which is owned through other methods, and then pay for the music file after selling it.
If the broadcasting company server 30 is provided with a music file from the music file (sound source) providing company 10 in concert, the broadcasting company server 30 assigns unique information, including a title, a singer, and selling price information, to the music file and stores the file in the music file database 32. Thus, the unique information may serve as a search word for searching the music file database 32 for the music file and extracting the music file. To the unique information is further added a specific unique number to the music file, so that the music file can be searched and extracted from the music file database 32 based on the unique number. The broadcasting company server 30 further includes the radio broadcast transmission unit 34 for transmitting the radio broadcast in association with a broadcasting station, generally including a transmitter, a master control room, a sub control room, a studio, a studio sub control room, a power supply room, a record room, an open hall, a relay center, and so on. In a broadcasting method of a radio broadcast according to the present invention, the radio broadcast is provided to a user through not a broadcasting method using a radio PCI card, but a real-time streaming method (that is, a scheme of playing voice, images animation, etc. in real-time on the Internet through the user terminal 40 that is connected to a broadcasting company server over a communication network). In the radio broadcast of the real-time streaming method, streaming broadcasting refers to a technology for playing data in real-time without interruption.
The streaming technology is a technology for playing motion images immediately using only a certain amount of data without waiting until the entire file is downloaded based on a real-time image compression/decompression technology, and was developed in order to meet a sudden increase of user needs for real-time multimedia play as PDA, mobile phone, etc. are widely supplied.
In an operation process of the streaming service, a broadcasting company server transmits multimedia data to a streaming server through encoding of a radio broadcast.
Thus, a radio play unit requests desired data from a broadcasting station server and receives the data from the broadcasting station server. The radio play unit also receives an application program for converting the data into sound or figures from the broadcasting station server. When the data reception rate is fast, the radio play unit stores the data in a buffer and streams the data stored in the buffer.
The buffer serves as an intermediate device for storing data temporarily when information is transmitted to other devices. When motion image files are broken or the amount of information transmitted is reduced according to a network condition, the buffer stores data temporarily through buffering so that the data can be connected to next data smoothly.
In order to provide a radio broadcast using the streaming method, the above broadcasting company server includes a copyright system for producing a real file used for file transmission, a streaming server for transmitting streaming data required by a user's radio play unit through real-time scheduling, a delivery manager responsible for communications between the radio play unit and the streaming server, and so on are included. However, a music file that will be broadcasted on per channel number/program/broadcasting time zone basis, and a unique information list of a music file to which a unique number is assigned can be constructed previously (before broadcasting) in a radio broadcast of the streaming method, which is transmitted from a broadcasting station 20, and then posted or provided on an organization table. Thus, the broadcasting company server stores them in the music file database previously.
For example, assuming that parts 3 and 4 of "This Is Featuring On Current Events of Son Seok-hee" are broadcasted at 07:15 a.m. on November 7, over MBC (95.9MHz) Broadcasting, the list of music files that will be broadcasted in the time zone of 07:15 to 08:00 (Seo Tai-ji's Ultraman (07:22-25) and Seo Tai-ji's Livewire (17:34-39)) is constructed in advance. The unique information list of the music files is a concept including not only programs (that is, the main broadcasting of the radio broadcast), but also the list of music files of music used as background music in advertisements provided during the programs.
In other words, unique information about music, which is inserted during the advertisements of radio broadcast, is displayed, and a user downloads the music.
In order to provide a user with the unique information list of the music files constructed as described above and transmit a music file requested by the user terminal to the user terminal, the broadcasting company server 30 is equipped with the music file transmission unit 36. The music file transmission unit 36 searches the music file database 32 for a pertinent music file based on a unique number corresponding to the requested music file, extracts the pertinent music file from the music file database 32, and transmits the music file to the outside in a wired or wireless manner.
The music file transmission unit 36 of the broadcasting company server 30 is connected to the user terminal 40 over a communication network, such as an Internet, and can transmit a music file to the storage unit of the user terminal.
The user terminal 40 that receives the music file from the broadcasting company server 30 over the communication network basically includes a radio play unit 42, a selection unit 44, a storage unit 46 and so on.
Of course, the communication network may include all communication means over a wireless Internet network, a wired Internet network or a telephone network.
In order for a user to heart a radio and then purchase a music file, the user has to gain access to a server provided by a broadcasting company (that is, an Internet website) and then login to the server using his or her ID and password for the purpose of member information, an agreement and settlement for purchase. The user terminal 40 is equipped with the radio play unit 42 in order to receive a radio transmitted from the broadcasting company server 30.
The radio play unit 42 downloads a real-time radio play program, which is provided from the broadcasting company server 30, from the broadcasting company server 30, and executes the program so that a user can listen to a radio broadcast in real- time. The radio play unit 42 is preferably implemented to download and execute a radio play program provided from the broadcasting company server 30. The radio play program provides unique information about a music file currently on the air, which is provided from a broadcasting company server, on a screen simultaneously with the radio broadcast.
The term "screen" refers to display means such as the monitor of a user terminal.
The user terminal 40 is equipped with the selection unit 44 for allowing a user to select a music file desired to purchase, from music files of a music file list.
The selection unit 44 may be implemented using a keyboard, a mouse or the like when the user terminal includes a computer, and may be implemented using a keypad, a touch screen, etc. when the user terminal includes a PDA, a mobile communication terminal, etc.
If the user selects unique information of a music file desired to purchase, displayed on the screen, using the selection unit 44 as described above, the selection unit 44 of the user terminal 40 requests the music file transmission unit 36 of the broadcasting company server 30 to send a corresponding music file.
In this case, the broadcasting company server 30 may further include a settlement step when a request to transmit a music file is received, and is further equipped with the billing system 38 for storing expenses on a per music file basis according to music file download (purchase) of a user and updating/storing the purchase cost of the user accordingly by transmitting user personal information along with the music file when the user terminal 40 requests transmission of a music file.
Thus, the purchase cost of a music file by a corresponding user can be calculated on a monthly or yearly basis or settled immediately using the billing system 38. After this process is completed, the user terminal 40 receives the music file from the music file transmission unit 36 of the broadcasting company server 30 and stores the received music file in the storage unit 46. Thus, the user completes the purchase of the music file.
A real-time download method of a music file on the air according to the present invention is described below with reference to FIG. 4. - Construct the music file database of the broadcasting company server
The broadcasting company server 30 stores music files, which are received from the sound source providing company 10, in the music file database 32 by including unique information, such as the price, titles, singers and classification codes of a plurality of music files in the music file (SlO).
That is, if it is sought to construct music called LIVE WIRE of the seventh collection of Seo Tai-ji in a database, the music file including 700 Korean Won, LIVE WIRE, Seo Tai-ji, and A 12345 is constructed and stored.
Thus, the music file can be searched from the music file database 32 using search words such as the title and the classification code.
Alternatively, the music file can be constructed in association with the list of the entire album according to the singer.
- Construct the broadcasting list of the broadcasting company server 30
The broadcasting company server 30 constructs in advance the list of unique information of music files, which will be broadcasted every time zone according to a program of radio broadcast to be transmitted (S20).
- Synchronize a music file that will be broadcasted in a broadcasting list (the list of unique information) with a current time
The unique information of the music file constructed in the broadcasting list is provided in the form of a document file such as text and is first transmitted to the radio play unit before the radio broadcast begins.
In the music file constructed in the broadcasting list are recorded a time at which the music file is played actually (for example, play beginning on 09:50:30 p.m.) and a running time (for example, 3 minute 25 seconds) as attribute information. Thus, when the radio play unit plays the radio broadcast, the radio play unit searches for and extracts the broadcasting list, synchronizes the list of unique information of a corresponding music file during the play of radio broadcast at a time at which the music file is played actually (the play time is based on time information provided simultaneously when the radio broadcast is received or a time provided from a computer), and provides the result to the user. - The user logs in to the broadcasting company server
A user gains access to the broadcasting company server, logs in to the broadcasting company server by inputting an ID and a password (S30), and can purchase a music file through a method, such as a monthly fixed rate, a yearly fixed rate, deferred payment or immediate payment, according to the sales method of the music file.
- The user terminal provides the user with radio broadcast and broadcasting list The user terminal allows the user to listen to the radio broadcast, which is provided from the broadcasting company server, in real-time using the radio play unit, access the music file database of the broadcasting company server, and receive a broadcasting list including unique information of a music file on the screen (S40)
In other words, if the user accesses the broadcasting company server, the user can listen to radio broadcast by downloading, running and installing a radio play- dedicated player provided from the broadcasting company server through Active X control or can also listen to radio broadcast provided from the broadcasting company server using the radio play unit such as Windows Media Player or GOM Player, which is already installed at the user terminal.
The radio play unit also displays up to the broadcasting list, which is provided from the broadcasting company server, in real-time for the user.
In other words, the radio broadcast provided from the broadcasting company server is made to be heard in real-time, and unique information of a corresponding music file, which is synchronized with a play time of the music file played in the radio broadcast, is displayed on the screen at the same time.
- A user selects a music file
The user terminal allows the user to select a music file desired to purchase from the broadcasting list while listening to the radio broadcast using the selection unit (S50)
That is, if a user wants to purchase a song that is currently heard while listening to a radio broadcast using the radio play unit, the user selects a music file that is currently displayed in a broadcasting list using the selection unit.
- Download of another music file of a singer corresponding to a music file on the air The broadcasting company server 30 includes all pieces of music according to a pertinent singer of the music file as well as music files that will be broadcasted every time zone as an album form. Thus, the list of hit songs or the entire albums of a singer is stored in the broadcasting company server 30 as a data tree structure so that other music of the singer can also be selected by clicking on a corresponding singer name in unique information of a music file. That is, when a specific singer is selected, other music files corresponding to a specific singer are stored in the broadcasting company server 30 as a lower tree structure.
Thus, if singer information is selected when the singer information of music that is currently on the air is displayed, the entire albums (collection 1, collection 2, etc.) or hit songs (best download songs, etc.) of a corresponding singer are displayed at a time, so a user can select the songs. The broadcasting company server 30 requests the music file transmission unit to transmit the music file.
- The user terminal requests the broadcasting company server to transmit a music file
The user terminal requests the music file transmission unit of the broadcasting company server to transmit the music file, which is selected by the user through the selection unit (S 50)
That is, the user terminal transmits the music file, which is selected by the user, to the music file transmission unit of the broadcasting company server in a wired or wireless manner. At this time, settlement information of the music file and member information of the user are also transmitted.
- The broadcasting company server calculates expense
The broadcasting company server stores a cost on a per music file basis according to the download purchase of the music file by the user using the billing system.
Thus, the broadcasting company server updates and stores the purchase cost of the user, or authenticates transmission of the music file through settlement when a request to send the music file is received (S60).
That is, unique information of a downloaded music file on a per user login ID basis is stored in the broadcasting company server, so a cost can be calculated using the billing system.
- The user terminal downloads a music file from the broadcasting company server in real-time
The user terminal downloads the music file from the music file transmission unit of the broadcasting company server and stores it in the storage unit (S70)
As a first embodiment of the present invention, a case where the user terminal consists of a mobile communication terminal is described below.
The first embodiment of the present invention refers to the invention of claims 7 to 12 of the present invention, as shown in FIG. 3, and refers to a system and method in which the broadcasting company server 30 functions to provide only the list of music files, which will be broadcasted, to a mobile communication company server 50, and the mobile communication company server 50 does not provide the radio broadcast, which is transmitted from the broadcasting station 20, to the mobile communication terminal 60 using a real-time streaming method, but the mobile communication company server 50 provides the user terminal with music.
The mobile communication company server 50 includes a music file database 52, a music file transmission unit 56, and a radio broadcast transmission unit 54 in the same manner as the broadcasting company server 30, but differs from the broadcasting company server 30 in that the music file database 52 is provided with a unique information list of music files in advance, which will be transmitted, from the broadcasting station server 30.
The radio broadcast transmission unit 54 is accessed to a user terminal through wireless communication means, such as FIMM, MAGICN or wireless Internet, which is provided in the mobile communication terminal 60 of a user. A user can gain access to the radio broadcast transmission unit 54 of the mobile communication company server 50 using the above wireless communication means, listen to a radio broadcast, and be provided with a unique information list of music files.
Of course, a radio play program of a radio play unit 62 of the mobile communication terminal 60 can also be provided from the mobile communication company server and downloaded and installed by a user. In this case, a user can transmit music files, which are downloaded to the storage units of the user terminal 40 and the mobile communication terminal 60 in accordance with the construction and embodiments of the present invention, to other sound instruments, such as a MP3 player or a mobile communication terminal with a MP3 play function, through connection means such as USB and listen to music.
