Description

DESCRIPTION
Title of Invention
Portable lighting devices for medical treatment
Field of the Invention
This invention is a surgical lighting system, which is used with a nasal speculum, a reflector, a colposcope and retractor.
Background Art
Lighting devices for maintaining visual range are widely used at various surgical fields, such as oral operation, otorhinolaryngology, or vaginal examination.
Although the existing device costs very high in price it has manifested several problems. Firstly, as it operates by extending optical cable up to the surgical tools, it disturbs the procedure of the surgery.
Second, it exposes inconvenience as connecting a cable to exterior lighting devices for every other operation procedure, as well as its heavy weight and lack of flexibility.
Third problem occurs at frequent disassembling of joints while using the device. And it does not work at the condition of power shut-off. Because it requires other expensive supplies additional cost and high price of itself has considered as the most problem need to be solved.
Once a combined structure with a light bulb and batteries has been suggested. But as its usage is limited only for lighting on laryngoscope, equipment operated by an optical cable are commonly used nstef d in most circumstances This product suggests a lighting device using a battery and light bulb, and compatible device with a retractor and a mirror to solve the problems that an existing device exposes Also it would present light bulbs in concise size that has enough capability for surgical procedure and other examinations as well All parts except the batteries, are high -pressure disinfectioner useable An assembling with other supplies should be convenient and batteries could be used jointly with others also However this product promises portability and convenience to patients for its small size and light weigh as used for the application even in wards It is easy to operate and focuses its purpose of innovation on a financial advantage with a reasonable cost
Detailed Description of the Invention This device is composed of a handle with batteries inside, lighting circuit made up of a battery switch and cords and a lamp connected to the lighting circuits turned on and off by the switch The lamp connected to a power line can reach to a certain distance and a bonding on a lamp or handle makes application of lighting possible while the device is attached to other equipments by operating of the switch
The main structure of the device shows three parts, a 'handle' with a battery set inside a 'lighting circuit' made up of batteries a switch, and cords, and a 'lamp' connected to the lighting circuits This lamp works by a switch and projected from the flexible neck The power cords should be installed interior of the neck to make a junction with a lamp. The flexibility of the neck enables control of the range of an angle in free manner. Even when the neck is not set straight it maintains the original shape by using bendable materials, and its handle has a bonding to be attached to the main parts. The explanation above is reliable at the all kinds of surgical devices. For instant applying on a nose tractor attach the device to the tractor using a bond then bend the neck as needed.
Other possibility can be suggested as below.
Install the batteries in the exterior handle extended in coil-shaped power lines-which is projected from the batteries in the handle. The projected line is connected to the lamp that a case protects. And other devices are placed on this case as well.
The operator carries the device and the case of the lamp that is connected to the surgical devices by extending a projected line. For the assembler magnet is strongly suggested. Also application on a retractor is considerable. By this way handle for both the retractor and lighting device can be shared and the main body of the retractor becomes replaceable as needed.
For instant, it is possible way to install lighting-circuits inside of a handle of the retractor, which changes its shape at the portion of application. A front of the handle and main body of the retractor must be built in irregular manner to facilitate the replacement of the main body and a handle.
However, using the device in more limited manner, a retractor and lighting device can
be composed as a whole. First combine the battery and control switch and place them in handle Then this portion forms as a whole object with a main part of the retractor, which is extended from the handle The portion of linkage of a handle, the main part of retractor, a socket and a plug is equipped for bonding to the power source With this structure when the main part of the retractor needs to be replaced, it operates with the power line connecting permitted by the lamp.
Demonstrations related to Figures below [Demonstration 1 ]-Fιg 1 Form a grip (10) to insert a small battery (41). This grip makes a bonding (20) to be attached to other surgical devices. The front of the grip is composed of a dual material tube (30) with an iron core (31) and flexible plastic (32) to project about 15cm forward Insert a power line forming a lighting circuit (40) composed of battery (41) and a switch (42) to the object A profile is connected to power line (43), which assembled with a lamp (50)
This demonstration has been developed to ensure more flexible application by the operators' needs, operators give lighting to portion in surgical procedure with assistants' help Also the device can be operated in the most appropriate condition as needed, using the grip attached directly on a main part of the main devices. The fixture (20) to lockup the grip is assembled as pressing on an equipment (100) and also a magnet panel installed on surgical devices or a grip that is placed in advance
can be substituted
[Demonstration 2] -Fig.2 Form a grip (10) that small batteries (41) can be inserted Coiled power line (43) should be extended outward from a front of the grip Connect the power line to a lamp
(50) protected by a case (51). The case forms a lockup (20) to be attached to a surgical device. It also combines a battery (41), switch (42) and power lines (43) to compose a lighting circuits (40). The lamp operates upon a switch.
The lockup on a lighting lamp case can be used as substitute for a magnet panel assembled on surgical device and a case A coiled power line lengthens no longer than 20 cm, and about 40cm when extended
A fixture is fixed on the bottom of the lamp case with a magnet to facilitate attachment of a lamp case. Also using an iron core (22) or magnet can attach the lamp case to junction of the surgical devices as well. For maintenance of the lamp not in use either magnet or iron core is required attached on a grip Especially utilization of a magnet for lockup of the lighting lamp makes the operation easier as the simple attachment-detachment procedure helps movement of the devices This demonstration promises convenience to operators because it is used as clipped on a pocket of the person in use, and the lamp case is attached to the main body of the surgical equipments
[Demonstration 3] -Fig 3 This product can be combined along with the alternative retractor which its main body can be replaced Fig 3 shows an application of the device to the alternativ e retractor and its structure has the main part of the device (60) and a grip (10) hooked with the main part of the retractor A retractor is in gear with a handle by an irregular structure (70) and it enables assembling of the parts This handle can cooperate with other devices, and a s-nall battery (41) can be inserted A coiled power line (43) is extended from the front portion of the handle and the line is attached to a lamp (50) that a case (51) protects This case provides a bonding (20) for the main body of the retractor when attached Also it forms a lighting circuit with a battery (41), switch (42) and a power line (43) By the controlling of the switch lamp should work out
The figure illustrates the main body of the retractor used, and each indicates the general foundations of the main bodies of retractors for facial, mandible, and breast Therefore, this device can be applied to retractors for other purposes A grip ( 10) elevates attractive force on the retractor it should be easy to handle and designed convenient to use As it is combined with the main body of the retractor each portion establishes an independent retractor
An irregular structure connects the main body of the retractor and a grip And as needed, it replaces the position of retractor to be used in various ways
The simplest method for assembling would be a form with a gear on forehead of each retractor On the front of the grip make a groove (72), which combines the gear and additional stopper (73), such as screw, should be provided for maintaining the linkage Gears explained above are placed on the main part of each retractor and make a connection by fitting them in grooves on a grip A little force needs to be applied to replacement process, pulling out them to adjust to an appropriate shape
Stopper (73) minimizes chance for each element's falling off In most case attractive force affects on a direction of the grip within 45degree, detachment rarely occurs when the force is applied on a device. With little friction between gear and grooves, stopper becomes reliable.
A lamp for the lighting is extended outward to operate at the most moderate position to secure the visual rage of the retractor. It can be replaced by a magnet (21) attached to a case and the main body of the retractor. The structure of the lighting explained above and a grip themselves construct exterior lighting system. And it can be utilized with pre-existing retractor or mirrors that does not have complimentary lighting source. In other words, by extending the lamp from the retractors and mirrors, it can be used as external lighting device, as well as preventing extra expenses on additional lighting equipment.
44 indicates 'automatic coiler for extended line' installed in a grip for collecting of extended power lines (43). The power automatically shut down when not in use and lines should be pulled out in use.
[Demonstration 4] -Fig.6 & 7
Figure 6 and 7 illustrate a demonstration of a lamp and power lines installed interior to the retractor. Build a device with a lighting lamp (50) with a main body (60) of the retractor; install a power line (43) to connect with a battery (41). Set a joint terminal (45) combined with a socket (45a) and a plug (45b). At the junction of a grip and retractor inside power gets connected at the same moment of an assembling of the exterior parts.
Above explanation suggests connection that does not require expensive exterior lighting devices It also suggests an improvement having a light on a handle that ensures easier attachment to complimentary devices Furthermore, it is possibly equipped with the replaceable retractor to share a grip with lighting Also we do not exclude the possibility of unification with various surgical devices, such as retractors for breast, nose, mandibular angle, and also a mirror upon request
