To ali whom it 'may concern:

Be it known that I, WALTER H. SAwYnn, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Denver'and State of Colorado, have invented certam new and usefull regular menu card usually composed of 'two leaves or sheets folded in the center, and to also provide a device, each cover or lid of which is com osed of two members between which may e inserted either advertising cards or special lists, in addition to the artiles contained on the regular card. The inner member of each lid or cover of the device is preferably composed of celluloid or other similar suitable transparent or translucent material. The body or outer member of each lid4 is preferably composed of metal as aluminum, thus making it practicable t0 produce the device in very attractive and substantial form. The celluloid members are readily removable from the metal members of the lid, thus making it practicable1 to' permanently fasten advertising cards or other articles between the two members of the lid, in which event they may only be taken out by detachin the inner lid. Ordinarily, however, the s ips or cards inserted between the two members of the cover may be removed at the end or side, as may be desired.

Having briefly outlined my im roved construction, I will proceed to descri e the, same in detail, reference being made to the accompanylng drawing, in which is illustrated an embodiment thereof.

In this drawing: Figure 1 is a front View of my improved menu card holder, showing the `same 1n use. Fig. 2 is a section taken on theline 2 2, Fig. 1, viewed in the direction of the arrow. Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken on theline 3 3, Fig. 1, looking toward the left or in the direction of the arrow adjacent said line. Fig. 4 is a fragmentary sectional view, showing one of the fastening devices for holding the tw'o lid members in removable relation.

The same reference characters indicate the same parts in all the views. Let thenumeral 5 designate each of the two lids of my improved device, whoseouter metal members 4, are hinged by means ofsleeves 6 and 7, connected by a hinge pin orrod 8, whose extremities are bent inwardly, as shown at 9, and provided withhooked ends 10, adapted to receive an elastic loop orendless band 12, which serves to retain themenu card 13, in place. To the innerV surface of themembers 4, of the lids are securedtransparent members 14, preferably composed of celluloid. These members are detachably connected with the metal members c4 in any suitable manner. As shown in the drawing, the-twomembers 4 and 14 of each lid are provided at their corners with registering perforations, through which are passed male andfemale screws 15 and 16, each of which is provided with a protruding head for convenience of manipulation. These two lid members are open at the sides or ends, for convenience in insertin and removing cards or lists of any kind. T einner members 14, are provided at their upper ends and also at their outer edges, withthumb recesses 17 and 18, for convenience in the removing and inserting of cards or other articles which it is desired to place therein. As heretofore stated, these cards, lists or printed articles of any kindmay be held between the two lid members, either fixedly, by passing the-retaining screws therethrough, or by makin the cards or lists of such size that they wil pass in and out between the screws .at either the ends or side edges of the lids.

From the foregoing description, the use of my improved menu card holder will be readily understood and need not be further described in detail.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim 1s:
