IMPROVED BAG-TIE.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all whom 'it may concern.-

Be it known that I,Jon1v G. Mn oY,'of Hastings, in the county of Dakota, and in the State of Minnesota, have invented ceitain new and useful Improvements in Bag-Ties; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exactdescription thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.

The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a bag-tie, which will be hereinafter fully set forth. 7

In order to enable'oth'ers skilled in-the art to which my invention appertains, to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawings, which forni at. part of this specification, and in which Figure 1 is a side view of the bag-tie,

Figure 2 is a plan view of the same, and Figure 3 is a side view of the tongue.

at. a represent the jaw of a bag-tie, which is made of a slotted bar, out openon one side, so as to easily admit the-string into the same' The front end of the slot in said jaw is bevelled, as shown in dotted lines in fig. 1, and in therear end is pivoted the tongue b, which has a cord, '1, attached thereto.

The front endof the tongue I) is corrugated, as shown in fig. 3, at w, so as to more easily hold the string against the bevelled end of the jaw.

The string 0 itself is secured to the tongue I) M3501 near the centre, and passes v downward. Then when the string is passed around the bag and inserted in the jaw a, the corrugated end of the tongue 7) holds it, both ends of the string 'thus tendingto hold the tongue in place.

The opening in the side of the jaw allows the operator to let in the string quicker than with the ordinary buckle. 1

Having thus fully described my invention,
