ANDREW s GRAHAM CD. PNOYO-UTHOGRAPHERS.wAsnlNeToN. u L.,
JOSEPH WEINBEEG, 0E DULUTH, MINNESOTA.
PAIL-I-IOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 3, 1910.
Application led December 15, 1909. Serial No. 533,253.
To all whom tt may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH VEINBERG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Duluth, in the county of St. Louis and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fail-Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being' had to the accompanying drawings.
My invention relates to improvements in pail-holders; and an object of my invention is to provide a pail-holder which will be simplein construction, comparatively cheap in manufacture and most efficient in use.
Another object of my invention is to provide a pail-holder which may be readily attached to and detached from the person and which will be adapted to relieve the workman or farmhand of the labor and strain of holding the pail clasped between the knees.
In the drawings illustrating the principle of my invention and the best mode now known to me of applying that principle, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my new pail-holder; Fig. 2 is an edge view showing the holder attached to the leg of the wearer and the pail in position supported by the holder; Fig. 3 is a detail showing in side elevation the pail-holding ring; and Fig. 4 shows the pail in plan.
The lower end of the post or bar a is pivotally fastened to the foot-plate or sandal b by an eye or loop o. The upper end of the bar a is provided with straps (l, CZ', the strap CZ being provided -with a buckle e, so that the device may loe strapped to the leg. Near the middle of the bar a there is attached to each side thereof a curved plate f between which and the side of the bar c may be inserted the tongue 71, of the hook c' carried `by the pail-holding ring j. Inside of the rim lo of the pail m is fastened a strip of metal n; and slidably mounted upon the bar a is a clasp 0 formed with a lip p. The latter is adapted and designed to be forced between the strip n and the rim lo of the pail m for the purpose of holding the latter steady and of giving its upper portion support by connecting it to the bar a. The sandal b is provided with straps g, r, the strap g being at the forepart of the sandal and the strap r being at the heelpart thereof and provided with a buckle c. Opposite the strap g the sandal is provided with an eye or loop c through which is passed the end of the strap g. The latter is finally secured by its engagement with the tongue of the buckle e.
The operation of the device will be readily understood from the foregoing 'description in connection with a study of the drawings. By means of the straps g, r the sandal or foot-plate b is fastened to the foot; and by means of the straps (l, CZ the leg-brace 0r post a is secured to the leg. The free end of the lug 71 is hooked into the holder or catch f and the pail is dropped into the ring j. The clasp o is slipped down the bar a, until the lip p engages the rim lo of the pail m under the strap a. A screen s serves to prevent impurities from dropping into the milk in the pail. The sandal b may be swung to either side of the post a, whereby it is made possible to use the device with either foot.
I claim:
l. A pail-holder consisting of a .pail-support; pail-holdin@` devices carried thereby; a foot-plate attached to said pail-support; and means for fastening the latter in place.
2. A pail-holder consist-ing of a pail-support; pail-holding devices carried thereby; means for fastening said pail-support in place; and a foot-plate mounted on said pail-support free to turn.
3. A pail-holder consisting of a pail-support; pail-holding devices carried thereby; means for fastening said pail-support in place; and a foot-plate mounted on said pail-support free to turn and provided with fastening devices.
4c. A pail-holder consisting of a leg-brace; a foot-plate attached thereto; and a ring adapted to hold a pail and carried by said leg-brace.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand at said Duluth this 26th day of November, 1909, in the presence of the two undersigned witnesses.
JOSEPH VEINBERG.
