My invention consists of a device or implement for facilitating the dealing of cards,

turning and moving leaves, sheets, 'etc.,

I counting bank notes, etc, the same embodying a frictional or engaging surface, and a holder for the same applicable to a thumb or finger, said surface being removable from said holder, and the latter being'provided with members for securely retaining the sur- :.-face in position thereon, said surface being adapted to be brought into contact with the cards, leaves, sheets, notes, etc., and take sufficient hold thereon to move the same for the respective purpose thereof, while the surfacemay be removed, replaced,'or substituted by another of different nature.

For the purpose of explaining the invent1o'n,-the accompanying drawing illustrates a satisfactory reduction-of the same to prac tice, but the important instrumentalities thereof may be varied, and so it is to be understood that the invention is not limitedto the specific arrangement and organization shown and described.

which are separated so thatthe ring may be readily adjusted in position and be adapted for thumbs or fingers of different thicknesses The exterior of the body of the ring has i .thereon the facing piece (3 of soft rubber or other suitable material, the same following f the contour of the exterior of said'body and so in a manner harmonizing with the contour of the inner face of the thumb-or finger, said piece being removably held in position by the clamps D, which are mounted on the ears E, the latter extending integrally from the body of'the ring near the ends thereof, said clamps being each composed of an elbowshaped member with the axes or journals F at the angle thereof, one limb Gof said memher being adapted to engage the adjacent end of the piece C and force it tightly against the body of the ring,.thus controlling said piece in position, the other limb H serving to operate the limb G, whereby the clamp may be turned on its axes so as to forcethe limb G. into engagement with the facing piece C to hold it firmly on the body of the ring, the clamp thus retaining its position somewhat after the manner of an eccentric, 'as most plainly shown in Figr3. When, however,

the limbs H are forcibly thrown upwar the holding power of the limbs G on the piece C is released, and said limbs clear'saidpiece, as shown in' Fig. 4-, when the piece may be removed for anypurpose requiring the salne.

In Figs. 1, 2, 3 and 4, I show the exterior surface of the piece C as corrugated. In Fig. '5, the same is roughened, and in Fig. 6, said surface is provided with small points, such as pins or needles, but to these features, I do not limit myself, as any form of construction adapted to frictionally engage with a card, leaf, sheet, note,.etc. and move the same laterally from its fellows when the hand is properly manipulated, is within the scope of my invention, neither do I limit myself to material, as soft rubber, celluloid, nretal and thelike may be employed for my purpose,
