DISPLAY-RACK FOR METAL BEDSTEADS.

Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HENRY LEE POWELL, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Tampa, in the county of Hillsboro and State of Florida, have invented new and useful Improvements in Display-Racks for Metal Bedsteads, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to display racks for metal bedsteads, and one of the principal objects of the same is to provide adjustable means for supporting a plurality of bedsteads, side by side.

Another object of the invention is to provide a display rack for iron bedsteads in which the supporting bars may be adjusted both laterally and longitudinally of the rack, and at any required angle to said rack.

These and other objects may be attained by means of the construction illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a display rack made in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view on the line 2-2, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a vertical section on the line 33, Fig. 1, looking in the direction indicated by the arrow. Fig. 4 is a detailperspective view of one of the corner post brackets looking at the underside thereof.

Referring to the drawing for a more particular description of my invention, the numeral 1 designates the corner posts of the display rack, said corner posts each having a series of mortises 2 therein at the required intervalsior attaching the supporting devices for the bedsteads. Theside rails 3 are of angle iron provided upon their upper flanges with a pair of slots 4, the ends of said side rails being fitted in corner post brackets 5, said corner post brackets each having anL-shaped recess 6 for receiving the ends of the-side rails, and a circular opening 7 for the corner post 1. A slot 8 is formed in the inner surface of the corner post brackets, said slot communicating with the circular opening 7, as shown more particular in Fig. 4:. Theside rails 3 are secured to the corner post brackets by means of screws, rivets or bolts 9.End bars 10 extend through the slots 8 in the corner post brackets and are seated in the mortises 2 in the corner posts. The supporting bars 11, any suitable number of which may be employed, are each provided with alongitudinal slot 12, and bolts 13 are passed through the slots 4 in the side rails and through the slot 12' in the supporting bars, said bolts being fitted withwinged nuts 14 for holding said bars adjustably in position upon theside rails 3. I

From the foregoing it will be obvious that the supporting bars 11 may be adjusted in theslots 4 and 12 either longitudinally of the rack or transversely thereof or at any required angle relatively to the side rails.

Metal bedsteads are supported between the bars 11, the side posts of the bedstead resting upon the outer ends of said bars thus holding the bedsteads in position to display their construction.

A display rack made in accordance with my invention will economize in floor space, as two or more bedsteads may be displayed within the same area required for a single bedstead. By adjusting the bars 11 bedsteads of different sizes may be properly supported in the rack. 1

Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:

1. In a display rack for bedsteads, corner posts, each provided with a series of mortises, corner post brackets provided with angular recesses, side rails formed of angle bars fitted in the angular recesses .in the corner post brackets and provided with longitudinal slots, end bars fitted in the corner post brackets and seated in the mortises in the corner posts, supporting bars extending across the side rails and provided with slots, bolts passing through the slots in the side rails and the supporting bars, and winged nuts for holding the supporting bars in adjusted position.

2. A display rack for iron bedsteads comprising mortised corner posts, corner post brackets secured to the corner posts, slotted side rails secured to the corner post brackets, and bars fitted in the corner post brackets and seated in the mortises in the corner posts, and adjustable, slotted supporting bars resting upon the side rails, and means for securing said supporting bars in adjusted posi tion thereon.
