IVILLIAM GREEN, OF HONOLULU, TERRITORY OF HAWAII.
SPOOL-HOLDER- Specicaton of Letters Patent.
Patented March 26, 190'?.
Application filed August 2, 1906. Serial No. 328,862.
To 1J/Z 11171/0717/ t mja/y concern:
Bc it known that I, IVILLIAM GREEN, a citi- Zen of the United States, residing at Honolulu, in the Island of Oahu and Territory of Hawaii, have invented new and useful Improvements in Spool-Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a device which is especially designed for conveniently holding spools of silk or material upon the person, so that the material will be of convenient access to the worker.
It consists in the combination and arrangement of parts, which will be more fully explained by reference to the accompanying drawing, in which the figure shows the device as used.
IVhiie sewing or doing needle-work the repeated threading of the needle requires one to look up the spools containing the material used, and these often become scattered or mixed with other things, so that considerable time elapses and annoyance is caused in replenishing the needle.
It is the obj ect of my invention to provide a holder upon which a spool containing the material to be used is revolubly carried and means by which the holder is attached to the garment of the operator in such a manner as to make it readily accessible when required.
As shown in the drawing, the holder consists ofrectangular frames 2 3. These frames may be of different sizes to accommodate spools of different sizes, and along the sides of these two frames they are connected by a band or sleeve 4, within which they are freely turnable. The opposite side of each frame forms a pin, which may be easily inserted into the garment. The upturned side which meets the end of the pin is bent into a loop orkeeper 6, which is disposed in relation to the point in a manner similar to a safety-pin, so that the point of the pin having been inserted through the garment may be engaged with thekeeper 6 and the device retained in place. Thus if a large spool is attached tothe outer or pin arm of the larger rectangle the pinarm ofthe smaller rectangle serves for the attachment of the device to the workers garment, and the spool being freely turnable upon its bar the material can be drawn off the spool whenever needed. If a smaller spool is used for different character of work, the larger one may be removed and a smaller spool placed on the pin-arm of a similar rectangle and the device reversed, the pin of the larger rectangle then serving for the attachment of the device. The iieXible connection between the two makes it convenient to use it in this connection.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
An improved reversible spool-holding device said device consisting of two open rectangular wire frames, a band or sleeve embracing the contiguous longer sides of said frame and by which the frames are flexibly connected, ins forming the outer long sides of each of the frames, each of said pins designed to detachably receive a spool and also to serve to attach the device to a garment, and a locking attachment upon the contiguous shorter sides of both of said frames, adapted to engage said pins.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing wit- DGSSGS.
