Description

PATENTED JUNE 13, 1905.
H. L. TURNER.
DISPLAY FRAME.
APPLICATION FILED JAN. 19. 1905.
UNTTED STATES Patented June 13, 1905.
HERBERT L. TURNER, OF ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA.
DISPLAY-FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part ofLetters Patent N 0. 792,092, dated June 13, 1905.
Application filed January 19, 1905. Serial No. 241,751.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HERBERT L. TURNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Paul, in the county of Ramsey and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display-Frames, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in display-frames designed particularly for supporting and displaying skeins of silk and the like, and has for its object to provide means for supporting a large number of skeins in such way that they may all be displayed at once and cannot become accidentally displaced from their supports and also that they will not become entangled with one another when placed upon the frame nor in being placed thereon or removed therefrom.
To this end my invention consists in the features of construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, Figure l is a front view of a display-frame embodying my invention, showing the frame in partially-open position with some parts broken away. Fig. 2 is a section on line m :0 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 is a view of one of the hinged skein-supporting bars.
As shown in the drawings, the frame comprises amain section 1 and a number of alternately-hinged foldable orswing sections 2 and 3 at each side of the main section, said main section having central rotatable support A upon abase 5. Thesections 2 adjacent to the main section are hinged thereon one at one end and the other at the other end thereof by hinges 6, and thesections 3 are hinged to the free ends of thesections 2 by hinges 7.
ithin each of the sections are arranged a number of horizontal bars orrods 8, each carrying a row of skein-supporting fingers 9, extending outwardly and upwardly. Each row of these fingers or hooks will thus face the adjacent section when the frame is closed. In order to increase the number of rods and fingers available for the skeins, additionalfingered bars 10 may be hinged at one end within the main frame in front of thebars 8. Each of the hinged bars preferably interlocks with a catch 11 at its free end when in closed position, as shown in Fig. 3. All the bars and fingers are so arranged and constructed that they will not contact with nor overlap the adjacent bars or fingers when the sections are folded together.
The skeins 12 of silk or the like are hung upon the supporting-fingers by means of suitable skein-holding tags 13, passing around the yarns or threads and formed with apertures to receive the fingers or hooks.
In order to hold the frame closed, I provide suitable cooperating catches andstuds 14 and 15, carried by the free ends of adjacent sections. By having the main section rotatably supported and the sections alternately hinged it will be evident that the frame may beswung around upon its pivot so that any two adjacent sections may be turned to open position to bring the bars on one side of said sections in front of the observer.
Having now described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. A display-frame of the class described comprising a plurality of alternately-hinged foldable sections, one of said sections having central rotatable support, and skein-supporting means carried by said sections.
2. A display-frame of the class described comprising a plurality of hinged foldable sections, one of said sections having central rotatable support, horizontal bars carried by adjacent sides of said sections, and outwardlyextending fingers carried by said bars.
3. The combination with a frame having central rotatable support, of a series of foldable hinged sections carried by said frame, said sections being alternately hinged, horizontal bars carried by said sections, and skeinsupporting means carried by said bars.
4. A frame of the class described consisting of a central section having rotatable support, a series of alternately-hinged sections having hinge-support upon said central section, horizontal bars carried by said hinged sections, outwardly-extending fingers carried by said bars, and skein-supporting tags constructed to fit over said fingers.
5. A display-frame of the class described egg 792,092
comprising a plurality of alternately-hinged foldable sections, one of said sections having central rotatable support, horizontal bars carried by each section, and skein-supporting means carried by said. bars, some of said bars having swing-support Within the section.
In testimony whereoflaflix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
