IMPROVEMENT IN LAMP-BURNERS.

Be it known that I, JOBN J. MARCY, yot West Meriden, in the county of New Haven, and State of Connec-` ticut, have invented a new Improvement in Lamp-Burners; andjI do hereby declare the following, when taken in Iconnection with the accompanying drawin'gs,.'and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and

exact description ofthe same, and which said drawings constitute part of this specification, and represent, in

Figure 1, an external view of a lamp-burnerwith my improvement attached, andin Figure 2 a vertical central section ofthe same.

This invention 'relates ite an improvementin that class of lamp-burnersY in which the-cone or delecto'riis' hinged to the cap, and consists in the peculiar arrangement of a. stop, to hold the cone andchimney in an inclined position, as when it is turned away for the purpose of trimming the wicle To enable others to construct and use this invention,`I will 'proceed to describe the same as illustrated in the accompanying drawings. I

A. is the lamp-cap, B the wick-tube, C the cone hinged to the cap at a, all-of common and Well-known construction. To that part of the hinge which is secu-red tothe cone, or' to the cone itself, as at d, I hinge a straight rod, f, extending through the cap, and its lower end enlarged, so that when theA cone is'opened or turned away, as denoted in red, fig. 2, the enlarged end of the rod will strike' the cap, 'and prevent the further movement ofthe cone, .the said rod sliding freely in the cap by the movement of the cone. v l l It will be observed that while the rod scrves'as a stop to' hold the cone inI a certain position,`it does not render the hinge liable to break or get out of repair, as does the old and well-known stop, formed upon the hinge itself, as the strain by this improvement is carried far away from the pintle ofthe hinge. i
