Be it known that I, ELIE BBUGEROLLES, a citizen of the Republic of France, residing at Brassac-les-Mines, in the department of Puy- (lo-Dome, France, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Paper-Holders,

Specially Applicable to Cigarette Paper Cases; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates toan arrangement called a paper-holder and which enables the leaves in a packet to be kept separate and at the same time a single leaf to be taken out without displacing the others. This arrangement is specially applicable to cigarette-paper cases, but may be applied to packets of papers intended for other purposes.

The drawing illustrates a perspective view of my device, showing its application.

The invention consists in partially enveloping the packet D of separate leaves of paper in a cardboard wrapper A. Around. this wrapper A is arranged an india-rubber band B, which by means of incisions a, made at the points where the wrapper is folded, grips the leaves, and thus keeps the packetD firmly together at all times, while allowing of the easy removal of the leaves. The wrapper A, furnished with its india-rubber band B, may be covered with a paper band of the same width, thus concealing the india-rnbber and improving the appearance of the case. The wrapper A, which thus forms a kind of case for the packet D of paper leaves and which is gummed to the cover 0, in which the whole is contained, thus enables the paper to be kept clean at all times and avoids the necessity of gumming the leaves to thecover C, while allowing, as seen, the-withdrawal of a single leaf at one time. Moreover, with paper-hold ers having paper with gummed edges it allows of the gummed edge being put inside the wrapper A, so as to keep it free from damp and prevent its deterioration.

It is to be understood that the arrangement just described may be applied in any size, shape, or dimensions and may be used either in the direction of the greatest length of the leaves or in that of their width. The arrangement may comprise either one or more indiarnbber bands, although, generally speaking, one is sufficient. The wrapper A may be covered with a paper band of any suitable shape or dimensions, so as to conceal the india-rubher and toimpart an agreeable appearance to the whole.

It is to be understood that variations or modifications in size and dimensions may be made and that the invention is not limited strictly to the form represented in the draw ing.

Although the invention may be specially applicable to cigarette-paper cases, it may also be applied to packets of paper sheets or leaves intended for any other purpose.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to'secure by Letters Patent, is-

A device for the purpose set forth consisting of a cardboard wrapper A, provided with incisions in its longitudinal edges where said wrapper is to be folded, an elastic band arranged transversely around the wrapper and lying within the incisions and adapted to grip a series of leaves inserted within the wrapper, and a cover 0 to which the wrapper is secured.
