[57] ABSTRACT An exercise machine for development of womens bustlines and mens pectoral and deltoid muscles in which the user is seated and has a pair of padded rollers which can be rotated forwardly and inwardly by the upper arms of the user. A cable system extends from eccentric pulleys rotated by the exercise action of the user to an adjustable weight unit. The eccentric pulley varies the weight load during each exercise cycle to thus provide uniform exercise for the muscles.

EXERCISE MACHINE BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION l. FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to exercise machines for development of womens bustlines and mens pectoral and deltoid muscles.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The machine user is seated and has his upper arms engaged against padded rollers mounted on crank arms carrying eccentric pulleys thereon. A cable system extends from the eccentric pulleys to a variable weight load which can be adjusted prior to use. The eccentric pulley varies the applied weight during each cycle of use to thus provide uniform exercise.
The primary object of the invention is to provide an exercise machine for development of womens bustlines and mens pectoral and deltoid muscles by continuously varying the load applied during each exercise cycle.
Other objects and advantages will become apparent in the following specification when considered in light of the attached drawings.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT Referring now to the drawings in detail, wherein like reference characters indicate like parts throughout the several figures, thereference numeral 10 indicates generally an exercise machine constructed in accordance with the invention.
Theexercise machine 10 includes a frame 11 having two pairs of spacedparallel posts 12 each pair being supported on one of a pair of spacedparallel base members 13. The spaced pairs ofpost frame members 12 converge slightly toward their upper ends. Horizontal transverse members l4, l5 and 16 connect each pair ofposts 12 at spaced points therealong.
Abase frame member 17 extends between and connects thebase members 13 centrally thereof and an upperhorizontal frame member 18 extends between and connects theframe members 16 intermediate their opposite ends. Anupright seat post 19 extends upwardly from afoot 20 on each side of themachine 10. a horizontal brace 21 extends from thetransverse frame member 14 intermediate the opposite ends thereof to the upper end portion of theseat post 19 for reasons to be assigned.
A pair oftubular braces 22 extend from theframe member 13 to thefoot 20.
A paddedseat 23 is mounted on theseat post 19 and has a paddedback 24 extending upwardly therefrom.
The paddedback 24 is supported on the transverse frame member 15 adjacent its upper end and on ablock 25 supported on thepost 12 adjacent its lower end. Theback 24 is sloped away from theseat 23 for the comfort of the user.
A pair of spaced paralleltubular guides 26 extend in parallel relation from thebase frame member 17 to theupper frame member 18 between the pairs ofposts 12. A second pair oftubular guides 26 are similarly mounted adjacent the first pair thereof. Theguides 26 are each provided with acompression spring 27 encompassing its lower end. Two pair of spaced parallel uprightpost members 28 are mounted on a pair of spaced apartbase blocks 29 arranged in spaced parallel relation on theupper frame member 18. Aswivel arm 30 is mounted on each of theposts 28 and has apulley 31 joumalled therein. Apulley 32 is joumalled in ayoke 33 between theguides 26. An elongatecylindrical rod 34 depends vertically from theyoke 33 and is provided with aconical point 35 on its lower end. Therod 34 has a plurality of vertically spacedhorizontal bores 36 formed therein.
A plurality ofweight bars 37 each have a pair ofbores 38 adjacent opposite ends thereof through which theguides 26 extend. Thebars 37 have a central bore 39 with its axis parallel to thebores 38 and intermediate thebores 38. Therod 34 is adapted to engage through the bores 39. Ahorizontal bore 40 extends transversely of each of thebars 37 in aligned relation to thebores 36 when therod 34 is completely inserted within theweights 37. A pin 41 is adapted to be inserted through a selected one of thebores 40 in aweight 37 and through thealigned bore 36 in therod 34. On lifting thepulley 32 and itsyoke 33 theweights 37 lying above the pin 41 are raised while the remainder of theweights 37 rest on thesprings 27. A weight element orbar 42 on top of the stack ofbars 37 is provided withguide collars 43 to assist in guiding theweights 37 on theguides 26 as theyoke 33 is raised and lowered.
A pair of spacedparallel arms 44 are secured to each of thetransverse frames 16 and extend outwardly therefrom. The inner ends of thearms 44 connected by atransverse frame piece 45. A tubular upright bearing 46 is secured to the outer ends of each of thearms 44 and ashaft 47 is joumalled therein. Acrank arm 48 is integrally formed on the lower end of each of theshafts 47 and has apadded roller 49 joumalled on its lower end for rotation about a vertical axis. An L-shaped stop 50 is secured to theshaft 47 for engagement with thearm 44 to limit the inward swinging movement of theroller 49.
Aneccentric pulley 51 is rigidly secured to the upper end of each of theshafts 47 and it should be noted that adjacenteccentric pulleys 51 are vertically spaced so as not to interfere with each other.
Acable 52 is trained under thepulley 32 in theyoke 33 and over thepulleys 31 which are also vertically spaced to align with theeccentric pulleys 51. Thecable 52 then has its opposite ends extending to and secured on the adjacenteccentric pulleys 51.
In the use and operation of the invention the user seats on theseat 23 with his back against theback rest 24 and his shoulders between the paddedrollers 49. His arms are raised so as to have the forward part of the upper arm engage the inner portion of the paddedroller 49 on each side. The arms are then drawn forward moving the paddedrollers 49 forward thus rotating thecranks 48,shafts 47 and theeccentric pulleys 51. Thecable 52 winds onto theeccentric pulleys 51 and raises thepulley 32 and itsyoke 33 to thus raise therod 34 and any weight attached thereto by the pin 41. As thecranks 48 are rotated the larger portions of thepulley 51 contact thecable 52 so as to provide a greater leverage against rotation of thecranks 48 for any given number ofweights 37.
The pin 41 is used to selectively determine the number ofweights 37 which will be lifted by therod 34.
Having thus described the preferred embodiment of the invention it should be understood that numerous structural modifications and adaptations may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention.
