Description

oct. 21, 195s A. G. LEHMANS-LEROY CONTAINERS Filed July 3o, 195e United. States Thisinvention relates, in general, to bottles or containers forI products or substances of all kinds, such as pharmaceutical items, beauty aids and hygienic goods, in whichv cases the containers or bottles are characterized because the opening is sealed withy a hermetical stopper or cover which forms part of the container and has` a breakingline to allow its` removal. At the same time, the bottom of the bottle is formed by an independent piece which is sealed'y to the lateralv walls of the bottle, sometimes on the inside of the-same, in which. case an adequate step is provided' on these walls; or again, the sealing may be done on the exterior of the same, in which case the piece which forms the bottom has, in turn, vertical panels of its own. The bottle also furnishes a second component, an upper stopper or cover for permanent use which allows itto be closed when the hermetical layer which seals the opening of the bottle has been taken on.
When the bottom of the bottle is adhered to the lateral walls of the same on the outside, the combination of this bottom with the permanent stopper or cover may form la truly useful container, once the bottle has been emptied of its original contents. To obtain this one has only to cut, according to instructions upon the indicated breaking line, the upper part of the bottle.
Therefore, one of the objects of this invention is to provide a bottle or container for products of all kinds of substances, having the opening of the bottle sealed with a stopper or cover which forms part of the bottle itself, the bottle being thus hermetically sealed, and so having to be filled with the desired contents through the bottom of the same, before placing the piece which constitutes the bottom of the container.
Still another object of this invention is to provide a bottle or container which, aside from the peculiarities already mentioned, has also the characteristic that its permanent stopper or cover, combined with the piece which forms the bottom, gives a useful general container by simply taking olf a part of the bottle, by removing the part indicated by the breaking line or mark, once the bottle has been emptied of its original contents.
The objects and characteristics of the bottle to which this invention refers, shall be made clearly apparent dur- .ing the following description, as well as with the adjoining drawings which illustrate the same and in which identical reference numbers are used to indicate the same parts in the five figures presented.
In these drawings:
Figure l is an elevation view of a container built according to this invention in one of its conceptions in which the bottom piece of the container is adjusted and sealed to the lateral walls of the same, on the inside.
Figure 2 is `a plan view of the same container illustrated in Figure l.
Figure 3 is a vertical cross-sectional view of the container illustrated in Figure 1 taken on line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is an elevational view of a container built on i atent I 2Av the lines of thisA- invention, according to the method in which the permanent cover' and the piece forming the bottomof the container are comibined to form a useful preferred forms of effecting the aforementioned inven-V tion, which is no manner'can beconsidered asV being limited to the specilic details illustrated and?, describedv therein. Hence, in practice as many'variations a-nd modiiications can .be introduced, especially inasmuch as refers to form or presentation, as may be considered' convenient, with no limitation other than' that which the claim mayj be said to contain.
As shown by the drawing, relating toA Figures l and 3, the bottle or container, preferably made out of plastic material, includesthebody 16, of the-bottle itself, prefl erably cylindrical, but which, can ofcourse, be made into any desired"f'rm; w-i'tli` itsVA corresponding'neck 1I, havingybetween thelbod'y 10`and the neck' 1'1, `astep 12, up'onwhich a line circling this section13, allowsA break'- ing to achieve the ends indicated further on. This bottle also includes a closing section orhermetrical cover 14, which forms a unit withneck 11, and which is provided with acircular breaking line 15 having abreaking point 16, to allow the consumer to easily remove the cover orhermetical closing 14, whenever desired.
The bottle or container is also provided with a bottom part orcomponent 17, which after said container has been filled with the product it is supposed to contain, is Xed onto a lower opening conforming to the body of thecontainer 10, placed onstep 18 provided for this end, to which it is sealed, preferably with an adhesive or cement adequate for these materials.
Finally, the container also has apermanent cover 19, which can be adjusted upon theneck 11 of the bottle.
According to the other manner of effecting this invention illustrated in Figures 4 and 5 of the drawings, the
bottle provides amain body 10, aneck 11 an-d between these two, an indention orstep 12 indicating thecorresponding breaking line 13, having its upper opening provided with a sealing component orhermetical cover 14, which forms part ofneck 11 and which has itscorresponding breaking line 15 andbreaking point 16 to enable its simple removal. However, in this case theclosing cover 17 of the bottom of the container is provided with avertical border 20 circling the body of thecontainer 10 on the outside, being sealed to the same preferably by adhesive or cement. Furthermore, the permanent cover component, which together with the bottom piece ydetermines the possibility of using the bottle as a container, once having disposed of its original contents, is made up of acover 21 with the same diameter and interior andexterior depth 22, which corresponds to thelateral border 20 of the cover component.
When so desired, aside from thispermanent cover 21, anotherpermanent cover 19 can be provided for the container, similar to the one used in the manner previously described.
Manner of employment of the container When the cover or closing component of the upper part ofneck 11, is joined to the neck itself, the container is filled with the desired contentsthrough its lower opening, after whichclosing component 17 is placed and sealed. Once this is done, thepermanent closing component 19 is adjusted and, in the modification shown in Patented Oct.v 2li, 1958 figures 4-5 also theclosing component 21, thus render- 1ng the container ready to be placed on the market.
When the consumer Wishes to extract the contents of the bottle, he shall insert by pressure a pointed instrument of any sort, inbreaking point 16, makingrafterwards a slight leveling motion upon neck ofbottle 11, so as to remove the closing component orhermetical cover 14, placing afterwards thepermanent cover component 19.
Once the original contents of the bottle have been removed, if this has been constructed according to illlustrations in Figures 4 and 5 of the drawings, then a cut may be made upon the body of the container with a proper instrument, followingline 13 marked bystep 12, so that all the upper part of the bottle can be discarded, and when the permanent cover component l21, is placed accordingly, it can be used, for instance, to keep ciga- -rettes, toothpcks, etc., as the size of the original container may allow.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is:
A bottle-like container comprising a one-piece hollow body open at the bottom and-forming side and top walls, said side walls including an enlarged tubular lower portion and a reduced tubular upper neck portion With an intermediate stepped portion forming a breaking line around said side walls at the upper end of said lower portion, said portions all being concentric, said top wall having a breaking line of reduced thickness around the edge thereof substantially contiguous with the inner surface of said neck portion and a small circular puncturing area of reduced thickness tangentially contiguous with said latter breaking line to facilitate removal of the complete top wall, a cup shaped bottom portion having a tubular wall telescopically surrounding said body lower portion and sealing therewith, said bottom portion side walls having a height less than that of said body lower portion, a cover having a tubular portion telescopically surrounding said neck portion and of a height to rest on said intermediate stepped portion, and a second cover having a tubular portion telescopically surrounding said body lower portion with its lower edge resting on the upper edge of said bottom portion and of a height to completely enclose the upper portion of said body and said first mentioned cover.
