Description

INVENTOR fzomeo Baccz' ATTORNEYq R. BACCI PAPER SEAT-COVERING DISTRIBUTING DEVICE FOR HYGIENIC PANS Filed Nov. 8, 1950 July 3, 1956 United States Patent PAPER SEAT-COVERING DISTRIBUTING DEVICE FOR HYGIENIC PANS Romeo Bacci, Milan, Italy Application November 8, 1950, Serial No. 194,613 Claims priority, application Italy September 29, 1950 3 Claims. (Cl. 4-"-243) The present invention relates to a device for distributing seat-covering sheets for hygienic bowls, and has for its object the elimination of certain objections which are present today in the use of bowls from the sanitary standpoint.
A further object of this invention is to provide a device disposed in a convenient and suitable position for the distribution of a pack of seat-covering sheeets in such a manner that the sheets may be applied successively to the bowl seat.
The device of the present invention is characterized by a seat cover of double wall construction for containing a pack of overlapped sanitary sheets adapted for covering the bowl seat at the moment of use; and a forwarding roller, bearing on the lower brim of the sheets to be forwarded, said roller being actuable at one end by a driving part mounted outside the cover.
The appended drawing shows, but not as a limiting example, an embodiment of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is a side view of the present invention applied to a conventional bowl, the double bottomed cover being turned in its uplifted position.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of a seat-covering sheet being drawn out from the cover.
Fig. 3 is a front view of a seat cover of the present invention and wherein, to achieve greater clearness, the closing wall of the cover itself is assumed as being removed.
Fig. 4 is a transverse axial section on an enlarged scale of the cover illustrated in Fig. 3.
Fig. 5 is a section along the line A-B of the seatcovering pack illustrated in Figs. 3 and 4.
Figs. 1 through 5 show clearly that the cover 1 of theseat 2 ofbowl 3 is an openable double walled cover, that is to say, cover 1 is made up ofclosure wall 53 and abody wall 52 hinged together at 54. Interiorly of thebody 52 two supportingears 55 receive theaxle 56 of aroller 57, which roller controls the exit of the seat-coverings. In turn, the cover 5253 is hinged at 58 to the conventional seat of the bowl, or to a suitable element attached to the bowl. Theaxle 56 ofroller 57 passes out of one end of the side walls ofbody 52 and terminates in a control knob 59, which is hand-operated.
Thepack 60 of thin paper seat-coverings includes apasteboard 61 on which thesheets 60 bear. Thisboard 61 is provided with twoholes 62 through which extend suitable pins orholder 63 attached to thebody 52 of the cover. Onsheets 60 may be applied another sheet 64 of light pasteboard or heavy paper. Characteristic ofpack 60 is theband 65 of strong paper or the like, a portion of which passes through and is disposed between the pack of seat-coverings 60 andboard 61, as an effect of thecut 66, and a portion of whichband 65 rests on theleaves 67 ofsheets 60, which leaves result as an effect ofcut 66. Thisband 65, which may have a size more reduced than that illustrated in the drawing, assures that said leaves 67 stay perfectly taut and in place while the seat-coverings are inbody 52, as well as during the exit operation of said "ice coverings. In this manner, the need of using springs is eliminated. Such springs always entail a cost increase and complication in the packaging of said sheet packs. Theband 65, besides making more simple the preparation of the sheet pack itself, gives a major guarantee that the saidportions 67 of thesheets 60 will not fall and wrinkle before or during their exit operation.
Normally, box 1 will be loaded with sheets to the pack. The loading of the pack is carried out by opening theclosure wall 53 of the cover 1, as by moving it about thehinge 54, and then positioning the sheets carried between the boards 6164 in thebody 52 with the free end of the first sheet in engagement with'roller 57. The other end of the sheets engages the pins orholders 63. It will, of course, be obvious that to substitute a new pac of sheets for an exhausted one, the above operations will be carried out after removing the boards 61-64 of the exhausted pack.
The control system for the exit of seat-coverings out of opening 71 is simple in that theforwarding roller 57 is borne by fixed holders. The necessary adherence through a slight pressure betweenroller 57 and the sheets ofpack 60 is secured by a spring foil 68 attached at 69 to thewall 52 on which bears thepasteboard 61 ofpack 60.Springs 70 are mounted underneath the free end of foil 68 to urge, through 'due pressure, thesheet pack 60 against theroller 57 In order to remove each sheet from the box 1, without it being rent or torn, it is necessary that the sheet be in one piece. That is the center of the sheet must not have been removed, although it may have thecut 66 previously described. It is, therefore, a feature of the invention to provide each sheet with acentral perforation 21 of a form, preferably oval, to correspond to the central opening inseat 2. This perforation facilitates removal of the central part of the seat cover.
In operation of the aforesaid device, after placing the seat-covering pack 6! into the cover 5253 and closing the same, use of the device is achieved by rotating the knob 59, wherebyroller 57 will also rotate and, because it has a surface adapted to allow a fair adherence, it will frictionally move said seat-covering 60 out through theslit 71 to dispose itself on the seat below.
This process may be repeated in the same manner each time a seat-covering is needed and the device will operate perfectly until exhaustion of thefull pack 60.
The dimensions, the materials constituting the various membersand the constructional details of said members may vary, as is well understood. However, such variations should and are intended to be comprehended within the meaning and range of equivalence of the present invention.
The device may be combined with a slot machine which locks the axle of the control knob until a suitable coin frees it for supplying a sheet.
What I claim is:
1. In a device of the class described comprising a bowl and a seat hinged to said bowl, the combination of a cover hinged with respect to said seat and said bowl, said cover being adapted to overlie said seat and being movable to a substantially upright position with respect to said seat, said cover comprising a body for reception of a plurality of seat-covers to be employed successively on said seat, a closing wall for closing said cover body, said closing wall being disposed between said seat and said cover body and remaining closed with respect to said cover body during dispensing of said seat-covers, and enclosing said seat-covers in said body, said body having an exit opening for said seat-covers adjacent its hinged connection with respect to said seat, mean-s supporting said seat-covers in said body, said means comprising a pair of pasteboards tially the dimensions of the seat-covers, with one of said pasteboards of slightly less length than the seat-covers whereby said forwarding means may contact the first sheet of the plurality of seat-covers, said seat-covers having a perforate central portion to facilitate removal thereof and a through out along a portion of said perforate portion, means extending through said out and bearing on said central portion to hold and guide the same during exit of said seat-covers from said cover-body, forwarding means successively engageable with said seat-covers, said forward means being operable in the said upright position of said cover to deliver said seat-covers one by one through the exit opening of said body for disposal on said seat, and resilient means interposed between said cover body and said seat-covers supporting means to urge: the latter toward said forwarding means.
2. The device of claim 1, wherein the means passing through the cut of said central portion seat-covers and bearing on said seat-covers whereby to hold and guide the 4 same during exit of said seat-covers from said cover-body comprises a strong paper band. 7
3. The device of claim 1, wherein ears are rigidly secured to the closing wall ofsaid cover body for receiving and supporting said forwarding means.
